It's silly to buy Skyrim for 60 dollars then not be able to play it because half the time because Steam was fucked up.

Yeah, like you've ever played Morrowind, Daggerfall or even know what Arena is.Indeed. I shouldn't be forced to use their service to play a mediocre game which was a pretty huge flop when compared to it's predecessors
I've seen some of the summer sale offers, considering buying soemthing, if not a few things myself.

Meanwhile, I've logged triple-digit hours on Oblivion, Skyrim, Fallout3, and Fallout NV and they are all among my top-rated games (my actual top 5 being Red Dead Redemption, Fallout: New Vegas, Batman: Arkham City, Just Cause 2, and Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask (in no particular order))
BRACING FOR BUTTHURT.

You have given me an idea for an extremely overdone and generic thread though. Thanks Benji.

Ok so i've been pretty curious about Steam for a while and i'm now downloading it and maybe portal one and two too. this summer sale seems pretty sweet.
Any other games I should probably buy?
There are hundreds of games that you should buy while they are on the Summer Sale, but that all depends on what genres of video games you like. Name all the genres you like and i'll tell you which games you should get that are on sale. Also you better hurry most sales are only for 2 more days.

So really... yeah RPGs and FPS are the main games i'd be looking for. I'm not a fan of extreme fantasy or horror games (nopenopenope not playing amnesia). That being said, i'm open to suggestions, I want to try different types of games.
However, I should point out i'm using a macbook. which i've realised hinders my choices a fair bit.

Weeeeeeeeeell i'm open really, I like FPS but i'm not sure i'd be keen on one on the computer (I don't have a mouse either which won't help right now). On my xbox I mainly play FPS and RPGs.

Macbook hurts you and as a Computer Science student you make me die a little inside when you say you want to game on a mac, but ahh well. So knowing that you like FPS RPG and Minecraft (and Portal) here are some games that are currently on the front page that I think you'll enjoy.
-The Binding of Isaac (its a small game very cheap usually used to waste an hour or two not much more then that its single player where you need to go through rooms and beat bosses to go down to lower levels and eventually to the final boss)
-Deus Ex: Human Revolution (Not sure if you will like this one but I thought I would point it out since its a very good game look it up for more info since it would take me too long to type everything out.)
-Magicka (Also a great game this one can be played either solo or up to 4 players its cheap and its more to waste a couple of hours like binding of isaac)
-Left 4 Dead 2 (First person shooter kill zombies survive. Up to 4 players you could spend hundreds of hours on this game and not get bored)
-Terraria (Imagine minecraft but as a side scroller, thats terraria though it feels different enough from minecraft to not get bored of it (i've played hundreds if not thousands of hours of minecraft LOL))
-Limbo (Short game but most people love it so I thought I would mention it)
-Killing Floor (Zombie survival up to 4 players try to survive X amount of waves (X = depending on the difficulty you're on) very good game if you like zombie shooters)
-Payday: The Heist (First person shooter with up to 4 players you play as one of four thieves and try to get rich (by robbing a bank or stealing a safe from a drug house) There are around 8 maps to play on which seems short but this game was made extremelly well to the point that doing the same map twice usually doesn't feel the same so you could play hours just re doing one map)
-Team Fortress 2 (Its Free, there are hats its a first person shooter. Thats all I need to say)
-E.Y.E: Divine Cybermancy (This games a FPS RPG though it has a very refined taste so you should check it out before buying it because it is definetly not for everyone.)
-Super Meat Boy (Another cheap game that could be used to waste an hour or two like binding of isaac though this one is much harder)
Those are all I see on the front page currently so if I can think of others I'll add them to the list. (Also as you might have noticed I love Zombie Shooters LOL)

Cheers, i'll check them all out. Except L4D2. shudder. Loved L4D but hated number 2.

As someone who also makes videos and graphics as a hobby I much prefer Photoshop and Sony Vegas ;P but I guess thats more personal opinion. Also how can you not like L4D2! You're crazy . Anyways if you want more games just give me a heads up and I'll look past the front page lol.

I felt like it just tried to be something it shouldn't have been. L4d1 was very simple basic and fun FPS, very repetitive and it didn't pretend to be more than that, I felt they complicated it a bit in the second one
