Homosexuality has NOTHING to do with being emo.
So what, if a majority of people on this forum are gay and bisexual, but alot of people are straight too... guess what? that's life in general?!

Just because he knew when he was going to die, makes him emo? I don't think so! In fact, Ronnie Van Zant of Lynard Skynard knew deep down he wasnt going to live past 30, he even wrote songs based on his theory. Guess what? he died in a crash before his 30th birthday. He wasn't emo at all...

Being understood by few, is hardly emo. Especially since there's a ton of supposed emo's on this forum and you all seem to understand yourself pretty well.

Andy warhol was not emo, that is pretty stupid to assume that. And he wasn't in the Velvet Underground. Get your facts straight.

Warhol was also paranoid for the last ten years of his life because of militant feminist Valerie Salanas. You'd be paranoid about your death too if a schizophrenic man hating lesbian prostitute shot you claiming you were trying to put a tracking device in her vagina. I've seen the movie I Shot Andy Warhol multiple times, and because of my interest in gender and sexuality related studies, I've read the S.C.U.M. manifesto. The bitch was insane. I don't know if everything in the movie was 100% accurate, but judging y her writings, I can totally see it all being true.

It's true. Sexuality has as much to do with your "emoness" as your race, age, height, weight, gender or family. Now, the emotional openness emo tries to promote may make being bi or gay more acceptable, therefore allowing for closeted gays to come out, and bisexuality may become a fashion statement, or a way to get attention, causing fake queers, but this does not mean there are more in the emo world than in the non emo world.

Does that make sense? I'm hella tired.

EDIT: Also, you're really smart KelDot! Keep those kiddos in line!

Velvet Underground was/is too cool to be even suggestively similar to emo.

But I find most of Warhol's work uninteresting.

I'm not really fond of Velvet Underground, personally...but I'm far less fond of this new emo shit, and yes, to say Velvet Underground is like say, Fall Out Boy, is horrifying. At least the old emo stuff like Juliana Theory could kind of hold their own.

More than Warhol's art, I'm fascinated by what he did for art, fashion and culture (I'm equally fascinated with Michael Alig). And besides that, I'm more fascinated by his actress Candy Darling.

So basically he was an artist?
He was missing one key element- the music.

That's bullshit.

Lou Reed was their lead singer.

Warhol managed them for a year and made their live shows into shitty, pretentious art exhibitions.

I always thought the Velvet Underground sucked.

And that Andy Warhol was always just a pretentious yuppie who thought he knew everything and was sent from heaven or something.

I can't find one place on the internet that said he sang for them. Just a few mentions of him being their manager, and a lot of shit about a tribute album.

Don't you think SOMEONE would be talking about it? I mean, it's a moderately successful band with a world renown artist...Someone would be talking about it.

Also, what books?

What the fuck? He was NOT the lead singer of Velvet Underground, he was their manager for one year. Also, emo wasn't even a subculture yet when he was alive, how could he be emo?

Emo has always been around its just been under diffrent names e.g. goth, greebo ect
and emo isnt style its a state of mind, so it could have been possible.
