no, there aren't any role models for black people in emo music so it's harder to relate to.

emo is a genre of music but some people have a problem where they think its a fashion or whatever, in the same way you can't be heavy metal. However most other "scenes" have a word that's different from the music genres they like with the exception of punk. But punk actually denoted something, a movement rather than just another form of being an outsider and whining when you get dumped.

Um one of my best aquintances is Emo, Straight Face.gif and hes black like south african from africa black; Hes even got a name from there Bwalya (Bwal-eee-aaa) So just tell smack them on the side of the face when they tell you racist s*** like that. Sure expect to be teased from time to time but most of the time its because black "people" (we're all the same anyway) are often seen in rap videos and emo is scene as a whiney white kid sort of thing

Why can't we call you niggers, you call yourselfs that. And yet you call the whites and mexicans racists for saying it, but its perfectly ok when you refer to yourselfs. You can't take a word and claim it for your race, whos the real racist here?

Actually, not all African Americans refer to themselves as 'niggas'. That's stereotyping because of some rappers. A lot of the A.A. I know take the word as an insult(which it basically is).
Don't say that they all like to be called that.
That post was one giant stereotype.

What makes the word bad is the fact that white slave owners called their slaves that. It doesn't matter what the word origionally meant, it's meaning was changed to a deragitory term used to insult A.A.

Usually the higher class blacks refuse to call themselves that, and they actually call themselves americans. Not African Americans, putting your heratiage before where your born is racist. You don't hear me calling my self a German American.

Not all the white slave owners called them that, some actually treated them very good. And when the time came to free them, the ones that were treated well didn't want to leave.

It does matter what the word origonally was, because thats what it was meant to be. The blacks weren't suppost to take it and make it "their word".

It's not just the upperclass. Most of the ones I know are middle class or lower.(I teach a summerschool and most of them are poor black kids) I know the almost all of them hate being called nigga.

I have why it's African American and not American African. But the first one rolls of the tongue more so that might be the reason people use that one.
Why does it matter which one comes first? First doesn't mean best or anything.
How is the bolded part racist? Heratiage is not race. I'm dutch. Dutch isn't a race.

I know not all slave owners used it, but I can bet you that the majority of them did.
The blacks didn't make it 'their' word. The majority of white slave owners made it a negative term used to insult A.A.
Sure it was meant to be that. But if you ask people today what nigga means, they aren't going to say bad person. The meaning was changed when it was used to insult black people.

most A.A prefer the term rather than being called "black people". and some white people dont like to be called white people either because they see the term as stereotypical .(just like when you describe some one as acting like a "white girl" or "ghetto like a black person" thats also kinda racist

If your born in America, then you should call yourself an american. I don't give a damn what color you are. You wanna call yourself an African American, fine, go back to africa. The first one means which you take more pride in. Dutch or German isn't a race but its part of the white race. Its just stating you would rather take more pride in where your ansesters came from, and not the country you were born in.

It just depends on who i ask on "what does nigger mean" people our age are going to say "an insult for black people". But if I go and ask someone who was raised in the 50s(like my dad) or before that they will tell me "it means bad person, it can refer to any race"
