Kitsune gave Drew a playful smile and squeezed his hand back, frowning a little as Jake spoke. Of course, he had been free for a while after the rest of them had been caught.

The expression on Kagami's face was a mixture of sympathy and confusion. He gave a small nod, but hesitated at Jake's question. He was taken a back by it, and no answer came immediately. He was spared answering, however, when Hana suddenly got to his feet, his eyes narrowed in fury at Jake.

"Sit down please," Kagami told him calmly, but he didn't listen.

Hana quickly strode across the circle to where Jake was sat, and wordlessly grabbed him by the collar, dragging him to his feet. "Those people were Hotaru, and Natsume, weren't they?" he whispered, tightening his grip until he was almost choking Jake. "Weren't they? You let them get killed. It's all your fault!"

"Sit down!" Kagami repeated, hurrying over to grab Hana's arm, attempting to pull him away from Jake.

Hana swung one arm back, keeping hold of Jake with the other, and struck Kagami across the face.

The boy stumbled back a few inches, stopping himself just in time time to avoid landing on Krista. "THAT'S ENOUGH!" he shouted, and three more nurses rushed into the room to restrain Hana, followed by the head doctor.

"You still think you can tame these animals?" the head doctor sneered at his nephew. He glanced over at Jake, his eyes full of disgust. "If it's not Lightning, it's you causing trouble."

Kitsune half rose to his feet, still unconsciously holding onto Drew's hand. "Hana..." he whispered.

 

As Siobhan hugged Natsume, Hajime hurried over to hug Rachel. "You shouldn't have come out on your own," he reprimanded them both. "You knew I was going back for you. You just had to be patient." He ruffled her hair, with a smile.

Natsume smiled shyly at Siobhan, then looked past her at the others, still looking at Lucie with distrust.

"Please tell me we're not babysitting these things, now," Lucie sighed. "What happened to going to see Makoto's girlfriend, and that hospital?"

Jake was shocked when Hana stormed up to him choking him. "Natsume..safe" was all he could manage, as most of the air was chocked out of him. He hated that he was being blamed for causing the trouble. In this place.

Lightning saw everything she felt sorry for Jake, she'd been the cause of all his pain, but when Hana hit Gem she flew into a fit of rage. She pulled Hana of Jake. " How dare you hit Gem!" She screamed and punched him in the stomach hard. "You ever lay a finger on jake or gem again and I'll kill you" she whispered harshly to him before shoving him to the ground.

Drew watched the events unfold, and as Kitsune half rose he pulled him back down "don't..." He whispered. He didn't want Kitsune being dragged into this. He was sorry to hear about Hotaru, he hadn't been as close to her as Kitsune and Hana, but she'd lived with them for a long time... He couldn't begin to imagine how Hana could be feeling, if he ever lost Kitsune he wouldn't cope.

Rachel looked up at Hajime "but you've been gone so long... And it's horrid there.. Please don't take us back, please" Rachel begged him.
Siobhan sighed "oh give it a rest Lucie we can take them with us. They won't be any bother I'm sure" she said with a smile, she was actually growing fond of them.

Hana's eyes widened with disbelief when Jake spoke, and the next thing he knew, he was being pulled backwards and felt a sharp, winding pain in his stomach, and doubled over, gasping. He hit the ground hard, and remained where he landed, trying to make sense of what Jake had said to him. "But...Mamoru said..." he whispered, tears brimming in his eyes, and spilling out onto the carpet.

Kitsune allowed himself to be pulled back into his chair, and stared at Drew as though he wasn't really there. "It's not true, is it?" he whispered. "They're not really dead..." His voice trailed off as he saw Lightning attacking Hana out of the corner of his eye. He tore his hand from Drew's, and hurtled at her. "Get away from him!" he screamed, punching her hard in the face. He fell to his knees beside his friend, and found himself crying as well.

The head doctor was saying something, but Kagami was not listening; he was staring at Lightning in confusion. "L-Lightning...?" he whispered, his voice overflowing with guilt. He finally looked at the head doctor, his empty eyes filling with life for the first time. "I can't do it," he whispered. "You can't...make me..."

Infuriated, the head doctor grabbed his wrist in a bruising, tight grip. "You don't have a choice," he hissed. He raised his voice, speaking now to the other doctors. "Lock all of them in isolation until morning. If they behave, they can still go on their little trip. My nephew is tired, so we'll be leaving now." He turned away, pulling Kagami behind him.

Kagami stared back over his shoulder at Lightning until the door closed behind them.

 

Hajime smiled at Rachel, giving her a gentle kiss on the forehead. "Of course I wont take you back there," he insisted. He looked up at the others guiltily. "I'm sorry...Is there a place we can stay? Just until tomorrow. I'll figure something else out for them in the morning, I promise...It's almost lunch time now, and I bet they haven't had anything to eat yet."

Drew was shocked when Kitsune pulled away from him like that. He wanted to say something but before he knew it, he had punched Lightning in the face and they were all put into Isolataion.

Lightning stagged backwards when Kitsune punched her, putting her hands to her face she felt a little blood where the impact of his knucles had broken her skin. Tears mixed with the blood and dripped down her porcelain white face, as Gem was taken away, he knew...she knew he did "Gem" was the last thing she said before she was dragged away to isolation.

Siobhan smiled "we can stay at mine. My parents are away for the weekend. We have food too" she said as she picked Natsume up in her arms.
Rachel nodded "They never feed us Hajime. We still need to find our mummy and daddy...can we do that tomorrow?" Rachel asked as she saw Natsume be picked up, feeling a little sad, no one ever picked her up, she was a lot bigger than Natsume though.

The atmosphere the next morning was not one usually accompanied with road trips, but it was hard to get excited when the very place that kept you trapped for years suddenly handed you a 'holiday', after all. Besides, the incident leading them all to be locked up in isolation again had definitely put a downer on things. Shou, however, was as lively as ever.

He sat with his legs swinging backwards and forwards under the table at breakfast, humming cheerfully, and glancing out of the window. His food remained untouched, as he was too excited about the day to even notice it was there.

Kitsune and Hana sat in the corner away from everyone else, even excluding Drew. They didn't touch their breakfast either. "It's weird that they're still letting us go," Kitsune grumbled.

Hana didn't respond, no matter how many times Kitsune tried to start a conversation, and eventually, Kitsune fell silent.

Eve sat across the dining hall from Lightning, giving her smug grins every five minutes, and staring pointedly at her bruised face.

There was no sign yet of Kagami or the head doctor.

Katana sat next to Shou poking at the bowl of mush that he had picked up, disgusting, he Thought as he pushed to bowl away.

 

Harkot sat across from them munching quietly on an apple, all of a sudden his eyes trailed over to that new guy, what had they called him... Hana?

Strange name... Harkot thought, knowing his wasn't much better. 

"I wonder what he is in here for..." He mused aloud.

 

At this Katana raised his head and looked in the direction Harkot was looking Then sighing he shrugged, "I don't know, I heard he just kinda turned himself in..."

 

Hearing the words Harkot scrunched his face, "Why on earth would anyone want to do that?..." He said looking back at Katana.

 

Katana shrugged then smiling a little lifted his food and said smugly, "Maybe he came for the food." Saying this he let the spoonful of much slide off the spoon and plop back into the bowl.

Drews eyes were red and puffy, he was tired and had spent most of the night crying. He knew Kitsune didn't want to talk to him anymore, and then when he avoided him at breakfast he just didn't know what to do anymore.

Jase had come in to breakfast late and noticed the only space left was next to Drew... This surprised him, he and Kitsune had been inseperable since they got here. Jase sat down and sighed. The news of Hotaru had hit him too... Even though he'd treated her bad, he had still loved her. "Guess kitsune's abandoned ship then huh? Well, I'm here if you ever need a friend" Jase said softly, showing he wasn't here to gloat or intimidated. Drew just shrugged. "Bet, you're loving this aren't you." Drew spat back at him. Jase just frowned "actually no... I always thought you two were indestructable, like nothing could tear you apart" He replied. And just began eating the mush they had served up. Even though it tasted like dirt, he was hungry.

Xavier sat there, itching to get up and move around. Not eating a thing. It'd save him having to bring it all back up. The food here was bad enough the first time round.

Lightning ignored Eve "watch your back you little brat... You'll get your pennance for your sins" she said harsly and then continued staring at the window. Wondering if she was really going to get to go home.

Jake sat there. Not moving, not saying a word, as though the world around him didn't exist. He didn't sleep much in isolation and when he did, the nightmare memory of Hotaru's death had plagued him. Hana was right, it had been all his fault.

Krista wasn't excited about the trip that lay ahead, nor was she excited about going "home" back to that place. She preferred it here, she was safer.

Rachel woke up early that morning and went and found Natsume who was still asleep, she crawled up next to him, hugging him lightly and fell back asleep.

Shou looked past Harkot at Hana. "I wanted to come here, to be with Katana," he reminded him cheerfully. "Maybe he has a reason to want to be here too." He smiled at Katana, and copied him, dropping his spoon into the mush, and lifting it, watching it slide back into the bowl. "It's not so bad here, after all," he muttered. "But it is kind of exciting to think we'll be going home soon."

Once Eve had finished eating, she stood from her table, slightly annoyed and disappointed by Lightning's lack of response. She made a beeline for her, with the intention of dumping the remains of her mush on Lightning's head. But, Lightning was spared the disgusting goo, when the head doctor suddenly entered the dining hall, clearing his throat.

"You are all to report to the mini-bus in five minutes, if your name is on this list. The rest of you will be going on tomorrow's trip." Instead of reading the list out, he pinned it to the wall. He turned on his heel, and left the room.

A couple of people hurried over to the list, Shou included, to see who was going on today's trip. He pulled the list from the wall excitedly, and began to read out:

"Drew, Eve, Harkot, Hisoka, Jake, Jase, June, Kasey, Katana, Kitsune, Krista, Lightning, Rigel, Shou, Xavier..." His voice trailed off, and his eyes lit up. Not only did he get to go, he got to go with Katana and Harkot.

Kitsune glanced at Hana, expecting to see complete apathy, but, to his surprise, Hana looked almost relieved when his name was read out. It would give him a chance to get rid of some of the monotony, he supposed.

 

Natsume opened his eyes when he felt someone lying next to him. He smiled, resting his forehead on Rachel's back, and started to drift off to sleep again.

But, at that same moment, the door creaked open slowly, and Hajime brought in two bowls of cereal he had prepared without permission. He doubted Siobhan would really care whether a little cereal disappeared. She'd probably be more annoyed if he woke her up just to ask.

When Drew heard Shou read out his name first, he didn't realise he'd unintentionally held his breath until he heard Kitsune's name and then gave out a loud sigh. Even though they hadn't spoken all morning he hoped they'd get to choose their seats otherwise he'd end up next to Eve. He left his tray on the table and went to the mini-bus pick up line.

Jake heard his name be called out and went after Drew, wondering why most of the people in the room had been called out, and why Lightning was getting to go... She hadn't even filled the form in.

Jase felt bad for Drew and watched as he left, he went over to Kitsune "Yeah, I get it, the news hit you, she meant a lot to a lot of us, but that doesn't give you an excuse to treat Drew like he's nothing to you anymore" Jase said angrily then turned and went to line up for the Mini-bus.

June and Kasey heard Shou mention their names and went out to the mini-bus, they hadn't had much communication with anyone since they got captured, they found it best to stay out of the way.

Krista heard Shou call out her name, not having eaten much and went to join the line, not happy about having to go on this stupid trip with morons who didn't get along!

Lightning was mad that Raion wasn't on todays list she didn't get why she was on the list either, she hadn't even filled in the form but turned to Raion "Rai, come on the trip with me today?" She asked, everyone ignored him anyway.

Xavier sighed, stood up, and counted his steps all the way to the line for the mini-bus, and walked on the spot.

Rachel awoke when she heard the door, but smiled when she realised it was Hajime, and looked at Natsume. "Sleep well little brother?" She asked him softly.
Siobhan's alarm went off and she woke up, turning it off, seeing everyone else was already awake. " You all okay?" She asked.

Kitsune stood up, resisting the temptation to hit Jase. "Since when were you glued to Drew's butt?" he demanded. "And you're really one to talk, aren't you? You didn't care about Hotaru. You treated her like she was 'nothing to you'. Just stay away from me, and stay away from Drew. Come on, Hana." 

Hana stood as well, shoving Jase roughly with his shoulder as he passed him. "You should do as he says," he threatened. "You don't get to talk about Hotaru. Not with the way you treated her. And when we get out of here, I'm going to find my son, and make sure you never see him ever again." He followed Kitsune outside, not even bothering to look back at Jase. They boarded the mini-bus together, and sat next to each other.

Still furious, Kitsune glared pointedly at Drew, warning him not to sit near them.

Rigel watched the entire interaction, but did not join in. He hadn't known Hotaru as long as those three, but he had almost had everything he had wanted. Hotaru and Natsume, a real little family. He wordlessly got onto the bus.

Raion smiled mischievously and nodded. "I doubt they'll notice if one more person joins them," he chimed. "Come on." He grabbed Lightning's hand, and pulled her to the door, after the others.

As everyone began to get onto the bus, Kagami watched them through the rear-view mirror, giving them a pleasant smile if he caught their eye.

 

Natsume sat up, yawning widely, and blinking at Rachel. He gave her a small smile, and nodded.

"I'm so happy you two made it out of there," Hajime said quietly, carefully putting the bowls of cereal on their knees. "I've missed you so much." He looked over at Siobhan, then at the 'stolen' cereal. "Well...this beats sleeping under a slide, so I guess so."

Jase glared at Kitsune "I am not, it's just I know how it feels to love someone, and for them to just push you aside" he said getting angrier " I wouldn't have done that if she hadn't of treated me that way.. I loved Hotaru, but she always loved you more Kitsune" he added. He'd never told them what she said the day she walked out on him. He hadn't kicked her out, like she told them, she left. When Hana shoved past him he just murmured "she never loved you either" Then went and got on the bus himself.

Drew was going to try and talk to Kitsune but the way he glared told him to stay away. Then he noticed how he and Hana were holding hands. He felt his heart-shatter. He didn't want to go on this stupid trip, but silently sat down on the bus, ignoring the fact tears were silently falling down his face.

Jake got on the bus and sat next to June and Kasey whom had gotten on before him on the back row.

Lightning smiled when Raion grabbed her hand and got on the mini-bus with her. She sat on the row between where Jake, June and Kasey were sat, and behind Hana and Kitsune.

Krista ended up sitting next to where Lightning was, but leaving a seat space because she didn't want to be too close to her!

Xavier sat next to Hana because he was told to, to fill the spaces up.

Rachel smiled back at Natsume. When Hajime said he missed them she smiled bigger "we missed you too Hajime... Didn't we Natsoomey?" She said quietly.As Hajime gave them the cereal she muttered "thankyou" and silently began eating.
Siobhan giggled " I guess...damn I'm starved... Kids are sorted I see" she said to Hajime with a playful smirk "Come on let's go get some breakfast ourself" she added with a smile.

Kitsune avoided Hana's eye, trying to forget the words Jase had hissed at them. He knew Jase was right, and he knew Hana would never really forgive him. Hotaru had used Hana, and Jase, but she had never used him. She had torn out their hearts and stomped all over them, with little remorse. 'Jase deserved it though,' he told himself firmly, glaring at where Jase sat. But Hana's silence told him Jase's words had hit him deep.

Shou sat between Harkot and Katana, swinging his legs backwards and forwards as usual, and trying to look out of the window.

Lastly, Eve sat beside Rigel, glancing around for someone to irritate, but it was no use. They were all focusing on themselves. How annoying.

A moment later, Kagami started the engine, and, at once, all of the doors locked. He began to reverse out of the car park, still glancing at them occasionally.

 

Hajime smiled warmly at Rachel and Natsume. He wanted nothing more than to hug them, but that would cause them to spill their cereal.

He gave Siobhan a stubborn look. "I don't need you thinking you have to feed me," he grumbled. "I can go out and get food for myself. I'm not a charity ca-" His stomach interrupted with a loud growl. Blushing furiously, he obediently followed Siobhan out of the room. "I'm going to get money so I can pay you back for all of this. I don't want to be in debt."

This time he was interrupted by the phone ringing; Lucie was no doubt on the other end, trying to get Siobhan out of the house.

Katana, Harkot and Shou all sat at the back of the bus, Katana against the window with one arm over Shou's shoulder protectively. He could feel the tension in the air, it was as if at the drop of a hat someone, anyone could starting killing everyone. 

 

Kit's eyes fluttered open and she sat up rubbing her head, she slowly pulled out her phone and dialed Makoto's cell number. When he didn't answer she left a short message saying, "Hi Makoto... I don't think I'll be able to come in today.... I'm sorry...." She sighed, her breath shook, she didn't know what else to say, "T-thanks...." And with that she hung up and sunk back to the bathroom floor and fell back to sleep.

Lightning turned to Raion “So where do you think they're taking us Rai?” she asked him and then smiled. “I think we should all sing the road trip song!” She said loud enough so that everyone would have heard her, she couldn't remember the road trip song herself, but she hoped someone else would, if not she'd have to resort to singing nursery rhymes like the one about 100 green bottles sitting on a wall!

Rachel smiled back, and then looked over at Siobhan who seemed to be all to happy to have them here and she treated them better than the orphanage ever had. She had her family now, and the only thing that could make it better would be if she could find her mummy and daddy too.

Siobhan looked at Hajime “ Look, I don't mind, it's nice not having to be home alone, I'm glad of the company... and it's only food it's better than you and your brother and sister starving. I don't need your money, my mum and dad are high class lawyers, they're minted and, well they're rarely around” She said in protest. She'd never understand why people cared about money so much, it was a vile thing. Siobhan went and picked up the phone, “Hello?” she answered.

When Lightning suggested they sing, most of them shrank back in their seats a little, and Kitsune made an audible noise of disinterest. Shou, however, stopped swinging his feet and ducked out of Katana's grip, his bright eyes shining. "Carol of the Bells!" he chimed. 

Kitsune rolled his eyes. "It's November," he pointed out. "Do you want to curse our little trip, or what?" 

"It's half way between Halloween and Christmas," Shou responded, his eyes now practically sparkling. "That song is perfect. Besides, I miss hearing Katana singing it." And, before Kitsune could protest more, Shou burst into song. 

Eve joined in a moment later, and Raion turned to Lightning, smiling and began to sing too. It didn't matter to him where they were going, as long as they were out of that place for the time being. 

As the others began to sing, Kagami looked in the rear-view mirror one more time, his own eyes shining with something other than excitement. They were filled with a dark determination. He stared straight ahead, listening absently to the music filling up the mini-bus, his hands fixed firmly on the steering wheel. Now, they had left the car park of the hospital and were speeding down the main road. 

 

Hajime continued to glare at Siobhan, but hurried over to grab the banana he had been staring at all morning. 

"Oi! Listen," Lucie began as soon as Siobhan answered the phone, barely giving her time to speak. "Makoto and me are in the woods. We're going to make a rope swing. Bring the rope and be here in half an hour." She hung up with a smile and turned to Makoto. "I conveniently left out the part about raiding that old abandoned house. That can be a surprise...I just hope she doesn't bring those little brats she took in yesterday." 

"She probably will," Makoto replied with a shrug. He took his phone from his pocket as it began to ring, but Lucie grabbed it and sent it straight to voice mail. 

"Don't think about telling your girlfriend about this," she warned. "We don't know her very well yet. She might decide to try stopping us." 

"But-" Makoto tried to protest. But there was no use arguing with Lucie once she had made her mind up about something.

Lightning smiled, even though seemingly they didn't want to sing the road-trip song.. they still found something to sing. She looked at Raion who had begun to sing, and then she joined in. Feeling a little better already, and the fact they were all doing something together made a change. Usually they either ignored each other or were trying to kill each other. 

Drew heard Kitsune's protest, he understood where he was coming from, but who knew, maybe it would cheer him up, so he joined in the singing. A lot louder than most of them were singing. 
 

Jase, Jake, Kasey and June all joined in the singing, it made the journey a little more fun. 

Xavier thought about how many calories he could burn whilst singing and then decided it would be a good idea since he couldn't exactly do anything but sit there, so joined in the festive singing. 

Siobhan just stuck her tongue out at Hajime as he went and got the banana. She listened to what Lucie was saying and was about to reply, but she hung up before she got chance. "Rude" she said and snapped her flip phone shut. " soo.. that looser from yesterday wants us to go be friends and play with rope swings... could be cool I guess... you're all welcome to stay here if you don't want to come... but I have marching orders." Siobhan said with a slight smirk. 

 

Rachel's ears caught sound of the word swing and jumped up a little too enthusiastically. "Hajime! you're taking us to the swings?" she said, with a voice full of joy, they didn't get to go to the swing park very often when they were in the orphanage. "Then we can find mummy and daddy right?" she said with a hopeful smile and then skipped off to tell Natsume.

Natsume jumped to his feet in excitement as well, first giving Hajime a hopeful look, then smiling brightly at Rachel at the idea of finding their parents. His smile didn't quite reach his eyes though; after all, he knew for certain one of his parents could never be found. But Rachel was excited, so he was determined to be hopeful for her. 

Hajime smiled sadly at the two children and ruffled their hair. "I guess I have no choice but to go," he sighed, attempting to look unenthusiastic. However, it was obvious by the way he finished the banana in two quick bites that he was just as excited as the children. 

 

After what felt like two hours, the mini-bus rumbled onto a narrow, bumpy road leading into the trees on the outskirts of the woods. 

Kitsune stopped his quiet mumbling of the song and glanced out of the window, feeling uneasy. "Hana, isn't this where..." 

Hana nodded wordlessly, averting his eyes from the window. He didn't know or care where they were going, but he wished they didn't have to go this way. 'What is that kid thinking?' he thought suspiciously, frowning towards the drivers seat. 

"It's so pretty, look!" Shou chimed, trying to climb over Katana to get a better look at the trees. But as he reached for his seatbelt, Kagami reprimanded him. 

"Don't take that off," Kagami warned. "We may be going slow right now, but I'm still responsible for your safety." 

Shou reluctantly sank back into his seat, but his eyes continued to follow the trees. 

 

"There! We're finally done!" Lucie said proudly, looking at the rope swing. They were standing on a small hill above the riverbank, making the last adjustments to the swing, and testing the strength of the branch it was tied to. "Who wants to go first?" 

Natsume began to raise his hand, but Hajime stepped in front of him. "I think one of you three should make sure it's safe before the children play on it," he demanded, narrowing his eyes at Lucie, Makoto and Siobhan. 

Shrugging, Makoto stepped forward and grabbed onto the swing. It had taken them so long to put it up that he wondered whether Lucie had forgotten her plan to raid the old house, but he guessed she would wait until dark to make that move.

Rachel jumped up and down with glee when they said they were going. When they got there, it seemed to take them ages to put up the rope swing, she was a little disappointed because she thought they were going to the real swing park. But she didn't show this as she didn't want to make Hajime feel guilty.

Drew looked out the window and realised where they were. His eyes grew wide in horror. what on earth...why would our day trip be here... something's not right he thought to himself, he automatically stopped singing, this wasn't a time to be happy, this was a time to be very, very worry, he glanced quickly over at Kitsune and realised he was thinking the same thing.  

 Lightning stopped singing when she thought about where they were, "Rai... what is gem up to, why's he bringing us down here?" she asked, a little nervous about the whole thing. Surely they wouldn't be going anywhere this way, it was at least 30 miles of woodlands then the state border. She just didn't understand. 

Jake stopped singing also and decided to look out the window, memories of everything came flooding back, Hotaru.. he sighed. He knew it had been his fault, and he knew Hana and Kitsune and everyone else blamed him. 

Kasey and June also stopped singing and looked at each other a little concerned. 

Jase realised why the singing had stopped, and stopped himself.. this was a dark place, where most people on this journey had horrific memories of this place. 

Xavier and Krista didn't understand why everyone had stopped singing, and had carried on for a few minutes after everyone else had, but then realised there was a heavy atmosphere in the air. Something bad had obviously happened here.  

Siobhan looked at Lucie. "Took you long enough" she replied. Then looked back at Hajime "He has a point, I don't want to have to be taking anyone to hospital" she added. Then nodded as Makoto took the chance of going first, in truth she didn't trust Lucie enough to take the first go. Siobhan moved closer to Lucie "Ok, why have you really brought us here, I know you're not one to play with swings" she whispered so that no one except herself and Lucie would hear what she had said.

Raion frowned, and took Lightning's hand. "Maybe he's letting us go?" he suggested, although he didn't sound convinced. 

As everyone slowly stopped singing one by one, and Eve was left humming the tune after everyone else fell silent, Kagami brought the mini-bus to a gradual stop. 

He looked at them through the rear view mirror one final time, and smiled, a smile that didn't reach his eyes. "If you'll just sit tight and listen for a while, you wont ever have to go back to that hospital." 

"What?" Kitsune demanded, almost rising from his seat in shock, despite his seatbelt. 

"So you are taking us to that house?" Hana asked, speaking up for the first time since they had set off. He narrowed his eyes. "Why would you..." 

"It will all make sense if you listen," Kagami repeated, starting the engine up again, but not moving the mini-bus from its present position. "I have a story to tell you." 

At this, even Eve fell silent. 'We just have to listen to one dumb story. And then we're free,' she thought with excitement. 

"When I was a child, I got into all sorts of trouble," Kagami began. "I did a lot of things I regret...although I can't really remember any of it clearly. Despite everything though, I managed to find people I could trust." The mini-bus began to roll slowly forwards through the trees, and Kagami's eyes began to glaze over, as though he was in a trance. "It was amazing. We all lived together in an enormous house, like a real family. We had everything we needed." 

For a while, he fell silent as the mini-bus drove out onto a hill above the riverbank. Again, it stopped, and he went on. "Until I realized I should have never put my trust in those people. For years now, I've been trying to piece together parts of my scattered memories, with the help of my uncle, and it turns out, you should never put complete trust in anyone." 

Kitsune glanced ahead into the river, and a sudden realization hit him. Lightning was right...This kid was Gem. And now he was going to... 

"If you trust your life to someone, you will be betrayed," Kagami continued. "But it's too late. Unlike me, you wont get a chance to get revenge on the one who betrayed you." 

And, before anyone who had figured out what was going on could say a word, or try to remove their seatbelts, or react in any way, the mini-bus suddenly lurched forward, plummeting into the water with a huge splash. 

 

Lucie smirked. "There's an old abandoned house in these woods," she reminded Siobhan. "I heard those escapees from the hospital hid out there for a while...I want to check it ou-" She stopped when she heard the sound of an engine, and looked back to see a white mini-bus emerging through the trees. "Aw man," she groaned, assuming whoever was inside it would decide to ruin their fun. 

"What are they doing?" Makoto asked, jumping down from the rope swing, his brow furrowed in concern. He could see some of the passengers beginning to look afraid as the mini-bus parked right on the edge of the hill. 

Natsume looked over as well, and his eyes widened with shock. Was that...Jake in the window? He made a small squeak of protest, and hurried as fast as he could to the mini-bus, opening and closing his mouth to call out to Jake, but failing to make another sound. 

"Natsume, wait!" Hajime cried out, making a grab for him, but he was too fast. Swearing under his breath, Hajime ran after him.

Kit had woken up and for some reason she had a feeling she needed to go somewhere she hadn't gone in a long time. Standing up she walked into  Hana's room and grabbed to dusty car keys off his desk and then made her way down to the parking garage where he kept his car. After letting the car warm up she started off to the first place Hana had ever taken her when he got her out of the hospital.

As she drove she got this aching feeling in her gut and all of a sudden found herself parked in the middle of the woods. She was about to leave and just go home when she saw a kid run in front of her, at first she didn't recognize him but then it hit her like a brick wall, but it couldn't have been.

She rushed out of the car and began to run after the little boy, not noticing the other people running after him as well.

"NATSUME!" She screamed at the top of her lunges as they reached the top of the hill then her voice was all but ripped out of her throat as she saw what he was running towards, a bus...

But not just any bus, a bus from the hospital, and it was sinking into water. She couldn't move for a moment then as she looked at it she saw a fac pressed against one of the windows trying to escape and she instantly who it was. Hana....

Kit felt her legs about to give out from underneath her but all of a sudden she was running again. 

She ran into the water, even though she couldn't swim, somehow getting to the bus. She banged against the window trying to get it open, finally after she had found a rock she smashed it against the window and it shattered inward.
