This. It's amazing how many people say "my parents don't understand me"...When they've never even really sat down and had an assertive talk with their parents.

And the same way you fall in love in person. While no I don't believe in love at first sight, and I think online relationships are silly. But finding people you are attracted to over the internet is perfectly normal.

Also, I think most people need to realise that their parents do love them, hell. I got my ass kicked by my dad today, and after some blood and apologies, he told me something I have never heard the guy say before. "Son, I love you, yknow?"

So meh, I think don't bitch about your parents unless they seriously treat you very very horribly.

This isn't as bad as some of this stuff but:

My mom and dad divorced so im kinda sad but i got over that. My mom gets married and afterwards she imediatley turns into a horrible bitch. I love her all the time but she can sometimes be a bitch. And my step-dad is worse... he makes fun of my hair and teases me about my girlfriend. etc

So im kinda sad but im okay. Its now summer and i goto my dads house... hes a really cool guy and stuff, but he hates emo kids. SO my loving dad that was always cool starts harassing me about being emo and mocks everything i do. So i stayed with my grandparents later hoping to find refuge but they were worse! they call me weird and a stupid freak. I HATE IT

Ive tried telling them but they just say "Be normal"

You spelled it correctly.

And nah, I'm used to it by now. So it's not really shocking to me.

But I can imagine getting insulted by parents does well on the self esteem.

mine do the same thing. I'm almost 17 and its like the older I get the more limitations they put on me, and i have never done anything to make them act like this. they just cant handle that im actually growing up and discovering myself so they're trying to force me to stay a kid forever.
They've also straight out said that they understand me, but don't accept me. If they understood they would accept me, but they're too conservative and old fashioned to even try to get the concept of modern teenage angst! their answer to everything is "well, you do have depression." like saying that is going to solve anything. I'm sorry if i dont want to go on meds that are going to make me want to kill myself. Im sorry i dont trust them, but just telling me i have depression isnt going to make it go away, and its not going to make my problems any better!

...that kinda turned into a rant...sorry bout that lol

You're 11 and you cut yourself, no wonder your parents treat you like a four year old.
They'll treat you as an eleven year old when you act like an eleven year old.

i think when it comes to dads... cum on they dont really take an interest in any of their kids that much. i think its just a male thing. to be happy and teary eyed when ur born then as soon as u cry their out the door. ofcorse not all dads r probably like this but cum on majority dont even no how old we are or when our birthdays are! but in my case i know my dad still loves me despite that but maybe guys just arnt as loving or as feeling as mums when it comes to their kids.
.....but i think..... the kids of perants like this will probably turn out to love their kids more than their perants did them smile.gif
......unless of corse *stand by for my theories* the kid has grown up beliveing that they dont deserve love so spend their childhood alone because they think that they cant be loved and that there must be sumthing wrong with them. in this case, unless they find sum1 to love them they will prbbly suicide. im guessing between the ages of 18-20. if they live thru that age however then they most likely wont ever suicide, nd wake up one day nd decide to make that effort which will change their lives. i could go on A LOT about every type of kid nd how they'll grow up... but i wont bore smile.gif

I've hated my dad for a while.

He makes all our lives so stressful that we just can't take it. His yelling and attitude actually made me and my mom depressed constantly. So i told my cousin that i thought it would be better if my parents were divorced, she told my grandma, who told my mom, and now i don't know what she thinks. But i just want my dad to dissappear

Maybe parents wouldn't suck so much if we did what they asked us to. Of course, there are a number of exceptions, but most kidsthink they should be able to do whatever they want to with no respect for rules or adults.

Harder parents give their kids more discilpline. Which a lot need.
