Emma's ear twitched when she heared the knock on the door, "I'll get it." She said and got up and skipped to the door and opened it a crack. "Y-yes?..." She said softly making sure Harkot and Kyler weren't getting to carried away.
Harkot smiled and nodded, "Sounds about right..." He looked at Emma and asked squinting a little suspiously, "Whos there?" He asked, the orb in his hand slowly dissapearing as he turned and looked through the crack in the door.

when the mexican standoff was over, kyler peered over emma's shoulder to see who was there

"Um h-hi. I'm M-Mattie Tyler. It's very nice to meet you." Mattie bowed slightly. He really hadn't expected to have a girl answer the door. "I-I was exploring a-and, um, well I heard you talking and, well, I wanted to now if we could hang out." Mattie's voice was soft and barely above a whisper.

kyler heard the boys voice. he sounded scared and vulnerable. kyler remebered that age. he pushed pass emma and harcot. "c'mon in, kid." he said smiling.

Mattie scurried inside. "U-um so you guys have power-ish things to?" He spoke softly. He clung to the wall slightly. "I do. My mom got creeped out and sent me here." James started to say something in his head about needing his meds but Mattie ignored him.

wow, a blunt one. kyler thought. no one said anything so he spoke up. "i can control water and its animals, such as dex here." he said gesturing towards the turtles cage.

"Oh, cool. Better than mine." James materialized "Dammit Mattie take your meds or I won't leave." Mattie sighed and took the pill from the older demon. He chocked it down and sighed "Happy now?" "Yes." Mattie giggled slightly which mad James smile abit. He ruffled Mattie's hair and the small silver-haired boy swatted his hand away giggling.

a man...no demon...appeared beside the boy and kyler took an involuntary step back. as the boy choked down the pill, kyler got nervous. the boy started giggling manically. "uh, are you okay dude?" kyler asked

Mattie gave Kyler a sweet smile "I'm fine, James just needs to stop messin' with me!" Mattie said jokingly. James bear hugged the boy "Well if you'd take your meds I would have to worry about you, now would I?" "But the taste weird and make me sleepy!" "To bad." Mattie yawned. "Should I tell them what my powers are?" "Why not show 'em?" Mattie nodded and closed his eyes. Shadows shifted on the walls and enveloped the room in darkness. Mattie said "Your turtle's freaking out and your staring in my direction but not at me, more behind me trying to adjust your eyes." Mattie opened his eyes and the room went back to its old brightly lite state. Mattie smiled nervously "So, wadda ya think?"

kyler didn't care about the boy anymore, he could feel dexters panic and discomfort. he opened the lid and held the turtle, calming its nerves. "its okay boy, ky's got you." he crooned to the turtle. he ran water over the turtle tp hydrate it and then made the water go back in the cage. the turtles unease was now down to just suspiciousness over the strange boy. kyler sent thought toward the turtle calm down dex, he's a kid! he didn't mean to. you know i won't let anything happen to you. the turtle noticed the strawberries kyler put in his cage and quickly became consumed in consuming them.

Emma watched from befind Harkot, almost hiding. She wanted to shift into a mouse and sit on his head but she was to shy to do it.
Harkot smiled and clapped when the light came back to the room. He walked over and stuck out his hand to the boy, "Harkot Skellings! Your pretty good at that." He smiled when the boy took his hand to shake it. Harkot emieaditly made them phase into the shadows. There was nothing but darkness around them, it was like they were the only two in a dark room. "So you can control darkness. Can you fight with it?" He saw the scared look on the kids face and smiled a soft and warm but still slightly stern smile. "I am not going to hurt you." He said calmly.
When the dissapeared Emma looked at Kyler and smiled, "Se told ya he would love it." With that she turned into a small black mouse with a purple streak and scurried towards him and then just sat next to the turtle and almost seemed to talk to him.

Mattie whimpered "James says I don't have to fight because he'll protect me no matter what." Mattie was a frightful little kid. James said it was a side-effect of their contract, that and his fox ears and tail. "But I can if I have to." his left ear twitched.

Harkot nodded, "Well what happens when something happens and he cant get to you for some time? Can you protect yourself until he is there to fight for you?" He asked a staff of dark fog appearing in his free hand.
He wasn't going to hurt him just see if he really could fight.

kyler watched, fascinated by her power. the way she was squeaking and the way dexter was looking at her every now and then, made it seem as though they were talking. he figured that dex was in good hands, or paws, and went to unpack. he remembered that he had to meet up with annalise and annabelle later

Emma turned back and looked at kyler her ear twitching. "He loves you ya know, and he is very thankfull for you." She smiled and went back to Harkots bed and layed on it sighing as she sank into the mattress.

Mattie whimpered "James." he whispered, the truth was his medicine was a special type of pill James had made just for Mattie, it kept him alive but restricted his power. Mattie was scared he shut shut his eyes tight and thought. He could see it in his head Harkot was tied by the shadows and the bounds made it diffuclt to move. Harkot broke free and made another orb. This time Mattie wouldn't let himself get hurt. he flung the orb back at the older boy. Harkot wasn't fased, but Mattie was. The pill was wearing off quicker because he was using to much power. His nose started bleeding, his vision was hazey, then he passed out

Harkot quickly scooped up the boy, whiled the blood from his face and brought him back to the dormroom.
When he appeared back in the room Emma jumped up and let Harkot put the boy on the bed. Harkot smiled and very gently smacked the boys cheek to wake him up, "Come on kido, your ok." He smiled brightly as the boy opened his eyes slowly. "There we go!" He said as he stood up and got a ice pack. "You did really well for a kid your age, when I was that age I couldnt even do that much without passing out for a few days. Your good!" He patted the kid softly on the head and sat on the side of the bed looking at him a proud look on his face.

kyler turned and looked at emma. "thank you. i can sense things but not nessasarily read his mind."

[Snuggles]

Faranette unlocked her new dorm room door and approached a thin bed in the far corner. She set her bags down onto it, along with an old stuffed kitten and a blanket. Turning around, she shooed away a few stray cats that happened to follow her on her way to her new school. A small, rusty mirror hung on the wall next to her door. She approached it and looked at her reflection, brushing back her mussed blonde cat ears and straightening her blouse, taking a deep breath. She peeked out her dorm, opening the door for the cats to leave. Faranette heard faint voices down the hall as the cats pit-patted away, all except for a little black kitten that mewed softly at her feet. She looked down at it, scooping the kitten up into her arms. It snuggled comfortably on her chest and purred. "Let's go check those voiced out, now, shall we?"
"Okay, Mommy." The kitten answered playfully. Faranette stroked the kitten's glossy black fur as she approached the door across the hall.

James growled and picked Mattie up and then James put the small boy on his back. "I'm taking Mattie to the Dorm to rest." As James walked down the hall he bumped into a girl, "Sorry." He mumbled. Mattie was asleep on James back, arms around the older demons neck. He really did look like a cute, little girl. Not that he'd care if he was told so.
