I don't even know if this is a poem, I found it in my old diary and I must have written it when I was 13 or 14? I think I tried to write a poem, but then it sounds more like prose? I don't even know. It's just words put together, to be honest, doesn't sound very smooth. This is why I don't like poetry, I can't do it.

It's pretty bad, but it's hilarious.

Follow me and you’ll see,
What it’s like, to be afraid.

To find it hard to breathe,
Gasping breaths,
And it’s done.
Almost gone.

Now,
Look at me.
Can you feel it?

It’s dark, dry and dusty.
Smothering and cold,
All those terrible things.
It’s the dark, you know.

The deafening silence, quickening of footsteps,
Increasing heart rate and hysterical laughter,
Threatening to burst.

Almost there.
Reach out, grasping.
Desperation, dread.
Can you smell it?

Perspiration and a lingering scent of almonds.
Quickly now,
Are you still following?

Before they see,
Don’t stop.
Don’t you understand?
They’re following too.
