Stealing this thread idea from another forum.

A substitute teacher was teaching my biology class about food chains last year, and she was saying that larger animals usually eat smaller ones, and giving examples. So, she said that a fox would eat a rabbit, and then "and something bigger would eat a fox, like a cow."

...cows eat foxes? She wouldn't even listen to the protests at that idea, she insisted on leaving it at that and moving on with the class.

...some people. :(

So, what were you guys taught? :P

One of my media tutors got some theories mixed up and misinterpreted it, and I was like whaaat. Tried to explain it to her but she wouldn't have it, so eventually when giving my presentation on the topic I set her straight.
-_-

To be fair, she wasn't a full media teacher, she was an english teacher, but the same theorist has done some work for English Literature.. so :/ idk.

I went to a catholic primary school where we were taught creationism and were told that biblical passages were absolute fact. So pretty much everything was incorrect.

Nothing that immediately sticks out at me. My parents didn't like the local schools and deliberately spent quite a lot of money sending me to a private school where there was a really high quality of education, in fairness. The one thing I can remember is a substitute French teacher did teach us phrases that were very... unfrench, just translated directly and too awkward, would never be spoken, etc. If I've been taught something wrong in university, tbh it's probably gone over my head

I did have a horrific Information Systems lecturer this year though, when I asked a question he told me perhaps I'd become inspired by the computer, never did answer my question, and a complete sexist absolute cunt. One of the billions of qualifications my mother has is in this, and she had to re-teach myself and a group of friends. He really never taught us ANYTHING. Ugh, hateful cunt.

Oh, and a dopey English teacher told a girl to move because she was disrupting the Kama Sutra of the room. We think he meant feng shui, but you can never be entirely sure in a catholic all-girls school, I suppose.

When I did a presentation on a Ponzi scheme, and the teacher lul'd and said "that would never work."

>mfw Bernie Madoff would like a word with her

Also, fucking goddamned English/lit teachers who think they know what in the fuck Shakespeare was fucking talking about, and acting like they can microanalyze every goddamned word that fucker wrote. No, you do not know why the fuck he did that, teach, you can only guess, just like the rest of us.

what. Shakespeare is easy as fuck to understand.

He didn't mean understanding the text. He meant drawing wild conclusions about what the author was THINKING based on certain passages. English teachers do that shit all the time.

The only thing that I can think of is in College when one of the teachers said, whilst conducting mock interviews, was that it doesn't matter what you wear in an interview. Of course it matters, you can't just come in for an important career making interview wearing jeans and some band tee. She actually told the class that if, when doing the interview, we wore something too excessive (to her that was more than a shirt and tie and black trousers) that we'd be discredited for trying too hard. Sure, being too excessive can make you look like you're trying too hard, but wearing a suit to an executive position, albeit a mock one, isn't exactly trying too hard. Is it?

That I wouldn't graduate because I never came to class. Bitches my diploma is on my wall, in my office where I make more money than you. Also If your classes weren't so God damn boring I may have come a bit more.

Adolf Hitler was Minister of Health and Immigration and was responsible for the founding of several summer camps where immigrants and people with ADHD worked together to learn how to focus and concentrate properly.

Boy, that was an awkward trip to Jerusalem.

This isn't incorrect but true.

I quote my lecturer

"This is the chemical formula for amphetamine. Simple to make, but you won't remember this at the end of the semester."

Probably history majors have heard different but i know most people were told that George Washington was the first leader of the United States. He wasnt, he was the first President. The United States were formed in 1776 and Washington took office in 1789.
