At sixteen you're legally allowed to get them without consent

But lip piercings leave scars when they heal. So if you're going to get them you need to be sure you really want them

Also wrong section this should be in hair and fashion

Moved to hair and fashion.

What you want is a lip piercing by the way, not a snakebite.

And if your parents aren't ok with it, it's really not worth falling out with them over. Waiting until you move out might be the best option, it's what I'm doing (moving out in September and I'll probably be getting lip piercings then).

I just know that there's nothing I could say to my mom to change her mind about piercings. That might be the case with your parents, or you might be able to convince them, I don't know. You could try showing them pictures of the kind of piercing you want so they'll know how it would actually look. You could also show them that you understand the risks (educate yourself first) and how to minimize them.

Have you really thought it through? Lip piercings can cause damage to your teeth and gums, and there's the risk of infection, as with any piercing. Make sure you understand how to care for it properly while it's healing. Read the relevant pages here:

http://www.safepiercing.org/

If your parents think you really understand what you're getting yourself into, they might be more lenient, or they might not, it just depends.

I'm not trying to turn you off the idea either, if you like the way it looks, when parents/school aren't an issue and you know how to look after it, you should go for it. :)

I'm thinking I'll go for something along the lines of these when I get my lip done and it's healed:

Educate yourself about the piercings you want, consider what the risks are and if you are take them.
If you are educated first about the piercing you want, your parents may be more open, or that could totally sway them away from the idea after they know they know what the risks are.
just get it done by a repetable piercer and you should be fine.

No you don't, to keep the piercing clean you should do a sea salt soak once or twice a day. You shouldn't use neosporin or ear piercing cleaner.

You do not need an antibiotic. Taking antibiotics does not help prevent infections. In fact it's not advised to take them in you're not perscribed them by a doctor.

You do not use any mouthwash because it contnains alcohol, which is not good for a fesh piercing, it breaks down tissue.

You do not need an antibotic, unless you have a severe infection and is suggested by a doctor.

Also, neosporin is something that is not recommended because of what it contains can have a damaging effect.

Sure, you have used and it "worked", but not for the majority of the people, plus your piercings may not even be "healthy" because the aftercare that you used.

That doesn't mean your aftercare was correct, it might not have caused any significant problems but there's a good chance it would have healed faster if you'd cared for it properly.
Mouthwash is good but it should be alcohol-free. The others - nope. You probably meant antiseptic as opposed to antibiotic, too, I don't know how you'd even get an antibiotic unless you had an infection.

Piercings look stupid, unless it's your ears. Facial piercings? You're just screaming for an invitation to be punched in the fucking face.

No it's not. Antibiotics kill bacteria when you have a bacterial infection. They're not for pain relief. Do you mean analgesic?

You don't need pain killers for a piercing
If anything you should have taken anti-inflammatories to reduce swelling e.g ibuprofen
But please don't post anymore "advice" you clearly don't know a thing about piercing aftercare

Sea Salt - Warm Water, use to rinse mouth twice daily
Antimicrobial handsoap if you need to touch your piercing, or the area
Mouthwash with no alcohol, Crest Prohealth works best

Also have to be cautious when brushing your teeth in the area of the piercing

They also advise no mouth to mouth, or oral contact for a few weeks. So that means no cock sucking, OP

I've Had my Monroe for about 4 years now, In the beginning I used the Mouth spray my professional piercer advised me to use and brushed my teeth and tongue daily.(Most people don't brush their tongue..Yuck!..That's bad 'cause when most people get a lip piercing done they play with it with their tongue.) Mouth Wash is good as well. Swelling is normal within a few days..it'll go down. If not, try some ice. If you experience any problems after trying all the possible solutions( sensible solutions) go back to your professional piercer. You don't want a nasty infection..Infections aren't pretty. Hope this helps. Welp, Happy Piercings! Posted Image
