I get bashed by my mom just because I wore spaghetti tops and surf pant at home due to the heat??
My mom would then say everyone can see me, I'm a shameless girl etc and would keep on blabbing stuff...

How would you feel about that?

I personally feel like beating someone to a pulp in order to extinguish my anger :Black Eye:

Maybe not many people would agree or understand but I guess this is only because I have Chinese parents...

Do your parents have a problem with what you wear?

Nah, that's just cause you're Asian.

My parents rarely say anything about what I'm wearing, especially if I'm at home. Sheesh, it's my home, I can walk around naked if I feel like it.

I know how it is, I would wear guys clothes all the time (mainly cos they're so comfy and guys have the best clothes except for jeans =P ) and my parents would be all against saying "you know it'll be all stupid and people will say stuff" and I had this cap that I made myself and my dad was away once and I was sitting outside and my mum was carrying on saying "it doesn't suit you one bit you know" yet my friends thought it was cool and all this other stuff......parents just suck sometimes......

My parents have never criticised my dress sense. Well, they have told me off for wearing dark colours all the time, my mum just frowns at me when I used to wear shirts with pictures on them and I dress very 'mature' for my age, which my mum thinks is boring. Other than that, I wear what I like really, save for the occasions when my mum forces me to dress up.

I quite like some mens clothing, they have the best slogan T's, my parents just think I'm weird when I shop in the mens section.

I have never been criticized by my parents for my dress sense either. I'm a 24 year old, and I can pretty much wear whatever I want. I usually take on a more 'dressed up' style and I have never had someone disapprove of it.

And in the home, I could walk around naked and no one would say boo.

I know right! It's so hot that I wish I could wear nothing.

My father criticizes everything I wear ever. Literally I can't think of one item of clothing he didn't go "PAHAHAHA why are you wearing that?". Then again, he gives a similar reaction when I laugh so I'm not sure how to take it.

I agree, I like oversized t-shirts and most of them have cool designs too!
I think wearing a cap you made for yourself is really unique and indeed cool!
Parent should not really judge what we wear unless it is too inappropriate (but no way in hell spaghetti tops at home :Black Eye: )

In an ideal world, yes.

Is this an ideal world? No.

I don't think as a parent I'd be that controlling over what my daughter wears, but every parent has an image of what they want their children to look like. My father happens to hate my brother with short hair because he thinks it doesn't look good on him. Is he right? Who knows. But he's entitled to his opinion whether my brother likes it or not. Do our parents always know what's best for us?

^ I'm with you on that, my mum hates my hair short and prefers it long, whilst my grampa thinks I look adorable with it short. My dad didn't notice until a month later I had it cut off, but most parents just have different ideals about their kids.

My mam always had an opinion on what I wore when I was younger. Though she always bought me things that I liked.
My aunt however bought me horrible flower pattern dresses that looked awful and when my mam tried to put me in them I threw a fit, so she put me in something I was more comfortable in :)

IMO if you don't want to hear your parents go off on one about what you wear, just wear something else like instead of spagetti straps just wear a normal tank top

My mother tells me I "dress like a stoner." Other than that? Unless I look like trash, I doubt my mother would say anything, I don't think she cares how I dress. I freely admit to wearing short skirts when I was about 14 or 15 to piss off my dad.

Cool thanks :)
And my mum is different she tries to incourage me to wear more spaghetti tops even if it is just around home cos I normally wear them just under my shirt if it's a bit cooler or something, but I end up telling her that it's too girly and that's not me.

My mom has taken some of my clothes away in the past. She's really ridiculous a lot of the time. She's not so bad now, she just has some weird issues, with knee high socks for example. I love knee high socks. :(

Just 4 more months til I move out and I can wear all the knee high socks I like. :D I think having overly strict parents definitely makes you appreciate freedom more, when you get it.

I can definitely see now that clothes really aren't all that important, it seemed like the end of the world when I couldn't wear what I wanted when I was 13.

I'm 21, my parents are not exactly going to tell me what to wear :P

In the past though there hasn't really been a problem either. My parents are very reasonable people, and I didn't give them reason to go tell me I had to go change. My mum has a good sense of style for her age, and she does sometimes borrow some of my clothes, or vice-versa. I don't talk to my dad much.

You don't talk to your dad? This is seriously creepy but I always thought you had a really good relationship with your parents and now that I read that, I realized I mixed you up with Hermione Granger. Excuse me if I've ever said something to you about you that was based on completely false information.
