Quick lesson in art history: a load of pretentious people once decided nothing good was ever created by humanity, as such they stepped out into the world and created Dadaism... aka - Anti-Art.
With it's lack of perceivable melodies and discordant noise, is Dubstep and it's ilk Anti-Music?
Now I'd like to say, though Dubstep does nothing for me, Anti-Music is not necessarily a bad thing, it just means it's... different and whilst it fits loosely into a specific oeuvre it doesn't conform to it's tropes and standard definitions.
To me Dubstep is probably how my grandmother viewed my heavy metal collection.
But to those at the forefront of musical understanding and you guys on this forum too I suppose, is it for music what Freddy got Fingered is for film?

I've heard some Dubstep, I don't see the attraction people have toward it.

You know you can't actually say that without providing samples of 'good' dub step and expect your opinion to count. You've just heard bad dubstep ( ._.)

Not a fan of dub-step to be honest. However Techno isn't half bad or House I don't mind some dub but I find it rather dull so I stick to techno and house.
What ones have you heard so far?

Dubstep has nothing attractive to me. I don't understand the attraction towards it either, it's... bad. It's one step away from pure noise pollution to me from what I've heard. Most of the songs I've been linked to are existing songs remixed to have some crap over it. Maybe I'm being closed minded or I'm just not cool enough to get it, but it's the only genre so far that I can't wrap my head around.

Enough said.
Dubstep is just a cheap knock-off of the beautiful Dada works of Naomi Elizabeth.

Ok I'm pretty sure you're misinformed or the music industry has played a cruel trick on the world, because I'm sure what you just posted was 2 Drum and Bass tracks and a Chill Out track.
When I say Dubstep, myself and I'm sure most other people here think of:

I agree with Rellik, those all sound like D&B tracks. As for what I think of when I hear the word dubstep:

I like Dj mixes more but I can think of a few dub-step tracks that are good. Techno is more to my liking.
Here are some dubstep I enjoy once in awhile.

Brostep is a subset of Dubstep, what you're saying is akin to me saying Nu-Metal isn't Metal cos I don't like it.You dudez have just been misinformed and associate the term dubstep with brostep.
That's not to say you're wrong or I'm having a go, but if you're talking about something in broadstrokes, you have to take the good with bad.
As I'm sure for every Kai Hensen there is a Fred Durst, so to for every Burial there is a Skrillex.

I think Dubstep is fun at times and its pretty chilling music if you get into it some remind me of elevator music but lately I been getting into all sorts of music I find Dub step very relaxing, techno is a bit more up-beat but Dub step is great to chill out.

Can we go back to when dubstep first started and it was just very chilled, simple stuff with minimal beats and just a small amount of wob, instead of these 'bass drops' and sample constructs of Skrillex and the like. That's all closer to dance than dubstep imo.
To me, true dubstep is:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l1gz2yPmVa8
everything and it's nan that has some kind of bass drop is dubstep nowadays. Whatever happened to house, electro, techno? I has a sad :[

Interesting point there.
Admittedly still not my cup of tea, but I can see the appeal (I'm old and curmudgeonly it's allowed
).
You're right however there does seem to be a huge difference, with older stuff then the more frenetic modern equivalent.

I thought Anti-music was about harsh noise bands or the No Wave Movement; bands like Wolf Eye, Melt Banana, Aphex Twin, Merzbow and the 1970's industrial scene?
I'm surprised people here are actually into dubstep. Sorry if I'm wrong but isn't Dubstep a growing genre? Because if you put it in the Anti-Music category, it'd be the retarded cousin in the family.
I wouldn't consider it "artsy" in any ways, since it's already stunk with the smell of the music industry. Maybe I'm just acting like a hipster faggot, but there's no chemical for me to listen to this kind of stuff. Sure, it's fresh and all, but you need to give credits to the Aggrotech and EBM bands for making decent techno.
You can call this kind of music pretentious, don't worry it won't mind.

I personally Love Dubstep and it's just insane because not many people where i am from( Brooklyn, NY) like it or have ever heard of it. They are mostly into rap/hiphop.
But these are my favs so far.

Admittedly I don't really know what dubstep "is" but this is what I usually think of:
Of course, this guy gets triple kudos over any programmer since he actually plays an instrument.
