Theme Parks

We all love them, if you don't you lack a soul, but when was the last time you went to one?
It had been a few years for me until this weekend and my god, I'd forgotten what it was like, that excitement when a coaster makes it's first drop or the sheer thrill of getting soaked on a flume.
So EC tell me, when, where and how did you like your last theme park trip?

I used to be absolutely petrified of them (rollercoasters etc). It's pretty good fun once you grow a pair and just do it, but there's no denying the mini-heart attacks.

I was last at one last summer. Went to Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson Township, New Jersey. Went with my friend because we both enjoy roller coasters. Really enjoyed the trip as we usually do.
This is the Nitro, which opened back in 2001. At the time in which it was opened, it was the fastest roller coaster at the park, and the tallest roller coaster of the east coast United States. The ride features six camelbacks, a hammer head turn, and a 540 degree helix. One of the lift hills (there are two) reaches 233 feet in the air. The top speed once going down the lift is about 80 MPH. It has won awards for being one of the top steel roller coasters in the US.
Here is a picture of the Nitro.

If you guys ever fancy it again one time, give me a shout, because it's where I was at this weekend and I really enjoyed it... we can double date.... well you guys will be there on a date, I'll be there to eat chocolate then throw up on my mate whilst riding Colossus.Chewy and i went to Thorpe park last september, it was aweeeeesome
All the kids were in school so there weren't many queues, got on all the big coasters at least twice. I love roller coasters. I love water rides too, there was a massive splash ride too and we got absolutely soaked.
The splash ride was Tidal Wave and yes, we got drenched too, winning me a £5 in a "I'll make you wet today" bet.

Did you go to the pizza hut buffet? It's pretty awesome too. Tidal Wave is an amazing ride, when you're the one getting soaked it feels like its going on forever.... Nemesis inferno was definitely my fave, the backwards dark one was also great just for how hilariously bad it was.

Oh yeah, X:/No Way Out... took us ages to find the entrance and we rode it and were all like "this it?" I was well expecting more thrills and scares, I get the feeling it's a half finished ride they opened when they needed something new. Oh but if you haven't been this year that means you've not rode Swarm yet. We started off on it and in hindsight it wasn't our smartest move as I think it lead to us being way to cocky on the other rides.
But Saw the ride... now that is how a vertical drop 'coaster should be done, especially when the first drop hits and you don't expect it.
I think the longest we queued for was about 25 minutes at the peak time. We didn't do the Pizza Hut Buffet we went to the bar and grill near the entrance, which was... meh. But we'll check out the Buffet next time, I'm actually thinking of next year getting the Merlin Annual Pass so I have free entry to Thorpe, Alton, the Dungeons and Legoland.

Before that, it had to have been years since I'd been to a theme park, and it would have been Canada's Wonderland. I was maybe 12 or 13? I'd love to go back this summer if I can, I had forgotten how much I love theme parks. :3 Canada's Wonderland also has some awesome roller coasters that have been added since I was there, like the Leviathan.

I did have fun though, the roller coasters were the best part of course, because I got to ride on some coasters I've never been on before and we actually got stuck on the Finding Nemo ride on one of the vertical points of the coaster due to a technical fault or something. That was pretty hilarious to say the least.

I absolutely love amusement parks never the less. Sometimes in the summer if I'm hanging out in the park next to Linnanmäki, I'll go there just to eat cotton candy and take in the atmosphere

Yeah when I was on the climb I turned to Anne and simply went: "Oh dear...".ohmagooood Saw the ride was fucking terrifying - it got to the point where we were climbing the >vertical drop and I just turned to chewy like... 'this was a bad idea....', hated that one. :L Yeah we saw Swarm being built, it looked really awesome. How much is the annual pass? It's very tempting actually.
The Annual Pass is £140. Sooooo really only worth it if you plan to go to these places a lot, which to be honest, if you buy the pass in Jan/Feb and factor in an average travel cost of £30.... going to a park one or twice a month becomes a hell of a lot more feasible... also it knocks 20% off your food, souvenirs and hotel stays at Alton Towers.

¬_¬ I envy everyone who loves water rides so much. Because I was always so much smaller than everyone else, I've NEVER been soaked on one.
Also also, Hex is the best.

I'll be at Alton Towers, if anyone else is going on that day, drop me a line and we'll see about meeting up.
