With the way technology has developed over the past, 10-20 years it almost seems possible that something like that could happen.
But on the other hand I find it highly doubtful that somebody would go to that length, then again there was Second Life.

A bit of a weird video.
It doesn't surprise me that this would become a real option for many people, hypothetically speaking. Death terrifies people, and this way you live on, even if it's not living in the true sense of the world.

I don't know about that personally, I'd prefer death over a 100% synthetic life. I'd rather not be alive if that was lifeIt doesn't surprise me that this would become a real option for many people, hypothetically speaking. I'd assume it would be packaged nicely not to sound like that.I don't know about that personally, I'd prefer death over a 100% synthetic life. I'd rather not be alive if that was life
It is a massively scary thought though, to live in a world like that. You're right, it's not truly living. But then (at the risk of sounding like an utter hippie), how many people can say right now that they are 'truly' living and experiencing life to the fullest?

Well, it's more along the lines of life being relatively unpredictable that makes me never want to live a synthetic one. I mean, there may be such thing as fate, destiny etc. But I don't know that for sure, everything could be entirely random for all I know. If I lived on in a synthetic world, my assumption would be that I have a path on this world and free will wasn't an option. If it were, I'd be living in a program that was definitely constructed with limitations etc. and I don't like the idea of that.It is a massively scary thought though, to live in a world like that. Also, if this was real I'm assuming a lot of people would go for it out of fear of death and other things, I agree. I'm shit scared of dying, but I don't know, I'm more scared of having a destiny

I think it's just you who missed the point, really. The person is dead, so now they're in some kind of disembodied existence, by definition money could not exist now play a part in this.
Just me who sees that?
