Anything you write (almost) anywhere is automatically copyrighted to your name as soon as you write it.

Whys that exactly? I did a little digging and I can't find the poem on any other site except that one. So as far as I can tell its her own work.

OP, you could've dealt with this much better, simply by mailing our poetry sub-mod. Once we find work elsewhere on the internet, you do have to prove it's yours, it's just a precaution we take because as a group, we just can't stand plagiarism. I don't write poetry myself, but I can only imagine how horrible it would be to have your work stolen.
