What was the last non-mainstream game you played?
By Mainstream, I'm talking mainstream within the gamer or internet culture.

No I'm just curious about how hardcore the "hardcore" actually are or if they are just a bunch of uppity "core" gamers.

The last game was Burger King: Sneak King, or whatever it was called.

I don't really see how this question is supposed to help you. Sure, there are a lot of "hardcore" gamers who will pretty much lock themselves to just a few mainstream games and possibly get really skilled in 1 or more of those. This is where you'll find most of the elitists and arrogant players. However, there are a lot who crave variation too. Gamers who simply can't stand playing a 4 digit amount of matches on de_dust2 (Counter Strike).

I'm running this same question one a couple of other sites.

I exclusively play the ultra-hipster un-mainstream hidden gem known as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.

Would you like us to add more games from time to time, or is it 1 game per user?

Only the last non-mainstream game you played, if it changes add it, but let me know what you played before it as well.

I don't think I am hipster enough to play non mainstream. I've been playing Mass Effect 3, The Witcher 2 and Game of Thrones...

Suikoden 1-3
Earthbound
(Not sure if they ever made mainstream success in Japan, I know Suikoden didn't considering they only made a scarce amount of copies)

I play an RTS game called populous 3. I wouldn't call that mainstream, but it's been around since 1998 and I haven't met another person in real life that has even heard of it. Sad, really, since there's an up and running matchmaker for said game.

Cthulhu Saves the World, if that counts.

This thread is less 'innocent question' and more 'let me be elitist and prove my gaming penis is bigger than yours you plebeian casualfag scum'.
And the last indie game I played was Flywrench. It was difficult but entertaining. I prefer LoL, RDR, SR3 and Skyrim. And the N64 emulator I have on my laptop.
This does not make me 'less' of a gamer, or a worse one.

Super Smash TV or Secret of Evermore, can't remember which one it was. If board games count, the last game I played was EuroRails.... Hated every second of it, too.
O_D wins this thread, though....

Awesomenauts was pretty sweet on Xbox live. I haven't played it in a while but it was a lot of fun. The "Tales of" series is one of my favorite series ever, it's not underground by any stretch of the imagination but it's not mainstream, and its current installments blow the doors off the decaying Final Fantasy franchise.
