A puppy is being treated for a broken neck at the Veterinary Medical Center in West Islip after he was wrapped in a plastic bag and thrown from a vehicle onto the entrance of the Pilgrim Psychiatric Center in Brentwood Saturday.

The dog, a pitbull who caregivers at the clinic have named "Joey," is also suffering from bruised lungs, malnourishment and bite wounds, Newsday reports. He is currently being treated with morhpine and Valium at the center, which specializes in critical cases.

Joey was taken in by Islip Town animal shelter officials, who transferred him to the center.

According to NSALA, reports show that doctors at the West Islip Veterinary Medical Center determined that Joey had fractured three of his six neck vertebrae when he hit the ground. He was in intense pain and had labored breathing as his lungs were bruised by the impact. According to doctors at the West Islip Clinic, Joey will be hospitalized for six to eight weeks, and there is a 50 percent chance his neck bones will heal on their own.

Donations, cards and gifts have been pouring in to the center and there is already a 15-name long waitlist to adopt Joey, according to Newsday.

Why post this article and then just say, 'Thoughts?'

Ask some specific questions about animal abuse, personal experiences, animal cruelty laws in your country, PETA, that ghastly documentary Earthlings or whatever else, but just posting an article on a specific case of horrifying animal cruelty and adding 'Thoughts?' seems... retarded, and laughable if it weren't so damn hateful and sad. Do you really expect a lot of differing opinions on a subject like this? Trolls and Gangsta Fag notwithstanding, of course.

There were a few animal abuse cases that made it in the local news a few weeks ago. The first one, a couple of guys drowned a kitten in a cup of water and the other case, a man put a kitten into a cup and poured cement into the cup with just the kitten's head poking out. The kitten that was in the cop survived and is in perfect shape, a person chiseled away at the cement for hours.
