Hello Guys&Gals:D this is a place where we can all tell about favorite Tim Burton creations  :He He:

discuss favorite scenes or favorite lines from the movies. start up a conversation. anything:) lets start off with an example:3

my favorite Burton Film is Sweeney Todd.:) its a recreation of the musical by the same name and despite the tomato soup like blood they used in it....i think it was morbid  and beautiful at the same time. if you havent seen it...heres the gist.

okay so basically there is this barber..his name is Benjamin Barker, and he was quite successful. he had a stunning wife and a beautiful baby girl named Johanna and they all lived in London..well..the Judge of the town, Judge Turpin, was very...lets say...interested in Mr. Barker's wife. So he had Benjamin arrested under false charges and sent to a far away prison..Many years later Benjamin Barker, or now known as Sweeney Todd (he changed his name) escaped and is rescued by a young boy on a ship. this young boy falls in love with Sweeney's daughter Johanna who is being held by Judge Turpin. When mr. Todd returns to London he finds an old friend (Mrs. Lovett) who owns her own pie shop that is failing because of poor quality food..well...thats an undestatement...she'll sing about it and tell you whats goin on...but they pair up and Mr. Todd and Miss Lovett  work together as Sweeney takes revenge and Miss Lovett dishes out a gruesome yet delicious way to dispose of the evidence..its a great musical and with the voices of Johnny Depp (Todd) and Helena Boham Carter(Lovett) it is an amazing listen watch:) i highly recommend it :)

                                           now its your turn:) ......ready....set!!.....GO!!

^Then surely your love is Danny "One song" Elfman. What's the one song you ask? HAHA don't be ludicrous, everyone knows it's this:

I wouldn't say Burton knows how to make good movies so much as good looking movies.

That said for me it's a toss up between his debut feature: Pee Wees Big Adventure the eternally classic Beetlejuice and the much maligned Big Fish.

If anyone say's his Batman films, I might actually hurt them.

/thread

But for real, his earlier works were more.. unique. Now however, everything is just the same and it's all derived from the same image, almost. His work is aesthetically pleasing, but it lacks in that originality that he was so renowned for. The plot and general essence of his films now all resemble on another and quite frankly, it's disappointing and boorish.

Dear God. Why.

Also, Abraham Lincoln was shit cheesy acting, poor narrative and just an all round mess. Totally not original.

Burtons other films? 99% of which were all pretty damn bloodless?

Or did I miss the scene in PeeWee's Big Adventure where PeeWee slits the throat of the bully, or the bit in Beetlejuice where he beats the Deetz's into gory puddles or the bit in Batman where he stabs the Joker repeatedly?

I love Tim Burton, his mind is amazing. I think my favorite movie would be a toss up between "The Nightmare Before Christmas" & "BeetleJuice."

He's got quite an imagination and it's lovely.

I get it. Because Burton has Johnny in almost all of his films.

So I didn't know or remember all of his movies, so I looked it up. I didn't know he worked on The Fox and The Hound movie. But I love James and the Giant Peach and his remakes of Alice in Wonderland and Charlie in the Chocolate Factory, although I haven't seen the originals of either. Edward Scissorhands was fun, but it's pretty cliché, as well as the Nightmare Before Christmas. But I haven't actually seen the NBC, or have no recollection of it.

Oh dear lord. You've not seen the originals? How old are you? The originals are something everyone has to have seen, I mean, I just.. what?

Also, Edward Scissorhands a cliché? Arguably, that's the one good thing Burton ever did. There are cheesy moments in it, that's undeniable, but the dry wit and startling humour, the beauty of the unrefined relationships between each character, the message and themes behind the film.. that's what makes it anything but clichéd.

Sorry, double posting. Cliché because most of the girls on this site are on the Edward Scissorhands band wagon, I love the movie, but what have felt cliché for saying it was my favorite. Sorry for any misunderstanding. And I'm only fifteen and I'm not really the movie watching type.

Firstly, the producer is just the money bags. They can have a creative input, but it would be listed as another role. Other than that, they just provide the cash. He'd get no credit for it.

Because many other people, and in your case you have something specific about women liking it, does not make something clichéd. That isn't even what the word means. I think you're looking for mainstream, and if so, way to look like an elitist dolt (or is the word hipster? Idk). I'm also assuming you mean that you think it's expected to think of ES when mentioning Burton.

Regardless of your age, almost every child has seen the classics, it's just one of those things. Heard of the novel? Then you'd likely have seen the classic film made in the 30's, heck even the Disney version which everyone knows about. Well.. save for you of course, considering you don't watch many films.

When I looked up films of his, James and the Giant Peach was waaaay down the line and I'd never heard of him having anything to do with it, but since the topic never really specified on whether or not he had to be a director or not, I figured JATGP would apply since he did have a bit to do with it. And I've always loved that movie, so I felt the need to have it here since he helped with it.

Dictionary

cli•chékliˈʃeɪ, klɪ-(n.)

or cli•che

  1. a trite, stereotyped expression, as sadder but wiser, or

    strong as an ox.

  2. a trite or hackneyed plot, character development, use of form, musical style, etc.

  3. anything that has become trite or commonplace through overuse.

  4. (adj.)clichéd

I meant cliché in regards to all things with a dark fantasy and Tim Burton related. There was a big uprising of fans and merchandise where almost every teenage girl was supposedly a fan of ES and a few girls above already said they liked the movie, it isn't my favorite so I don't really wanna become one of those girls who jump on every ray of fame that shines down on something, so yes, I meant in regards to Burton. And I'm not trying to come off of as a hipster or something. Not in the slightest. I just prefer to do my own thing.

Here's the role of the producer:

Give Money, Distribute flick.

They have no creative control.
