If immortality is possible on earth then there will be drastic changes. I cannot allow it to take the form of a prison. We cannot predetermine the role a human should take on or force any to perform a certain position in some way to our advantage or compromise. However if this is possible we must enforce the learning of children with much better teachers than we currently have. There is truly no wise person who does wrong to others. So how can a teacher that sexually harasses, for example, who does not possess knowledge, insight, and integrity guide their students? A teacher who assaults their students should not even be thought of in this new world. For peace to be successful our teachers must be taught and examined more thoroughly to prevent the children of the future from being taught improperly. Time cannot be wasted and hopefully we can lead them to outgrow and improve from the mistakes of our time. So that they may then drastically become better our generation, they should require closer to fourteen years of school and taught why this is. It is not to control them, but to empower their capabilities in this life. During this time they should be taught more college level courses and it should reach the point to where they have all of their four years of college by year twelve. It is highly possible and currently only some parts in Japan function this way. By the time they're what we'd consider a senior (17-18) they know more than the average American college graduate. And it's not that they're being forced, whatever they did, it seems as if the children admire intelligence rather than it being the uncool thing. Willing learning is the goal. Almost everyone has had a class in which they were fascinated in so it cannot be said that it's impossible for any country in particular. We're all human and we all have the same capabilities and potential -given- time. If we are to even triple or simply double our lifetime, I believe adding 2 additional years with far more advanced courses is a very simple request. Finding teachers (pay must be raised to attract more willing/skillful people to this) who ensure that every student is grasping the information will be a necessity. Also the idea of two teachers per classroom must be adopted so that the lecture can continue as the assistant catches others up (whether it be during or after class). The desired typical student to create is not one whom we control, but rather one we cannot control because he/she seeks knowledge. Once you grasp it, you cannot let go because you will not want to let go. It's as if all your life you believe 5+5 = 11 because you never questioned it until the day you discovered 5+5 = 10. You will not want to go back to believing 5+5 = 11 and you will not be able to even if you did. But it would be impossible for a human to want to lose knowledge.

Neo: "I can never go back can I?"
Morpheus: "No. But if you could... would you really want to?"

Neo: "..."

Terrible movie to quote haha but I like it : )

Point:

Empower all humans with knowledge because there is no smart person who does evil.

World peace. (aside from natural disasters which may also be overcome by humans)

Even if it is a 1% chance I am 1 out of 7+ billion people on earth and it's worth looking into. I believe it's closer to 50% but that's my belief. Regardless, if it is possible I must prepare for the following measures to be taken in order to guide the future to a peace and good. What else more important do I have as one individual?

Knowing the answer to possible immortality, what ought I do?

:D

I am so high I normally don't tell people about this stuff xD haha sry if I wasted your time. I do believe knowledge is the key to world peace though and that neuroscience is the key to immortality.

I agree with you. If your writing is an example of the American education system, we need reform.

Nah that was my rough draft after smoking an entire joint by myself. I was too lazy to re-read and edit anything so I just posted it. xP The only thing I had sort of right (too lazy to read what I wrote while high) was that I believe knowledge is the key to world peace. :/ Those who use reason do not wrong others. I believe we can triple our life-span within our lifetime. I'm actually well over 90% sure of it. I have spoken to a neurosurgeon and 2 women with a master in neuroscience. Although none of them believed there would be a way around the paralyzation, I believe it will simply take more time and research. Both of which I can do while paralyzed from the neck down. Vision would not be an issue, you would be keeping your old eyes obviously and should be able to recover easily in less than a week. When it comes to hearing we'd probably have to find someone with a similarly shaped head or resort to synthetic eardrums. It's not too far off into the future as there have already been some successful operations... it's not perfect though.

Blah, anyway... I believe I made this thread because I am discouraged.

Even if my goals of this total body transplant are successful... the responsibilities to follow will be immense. Take what we have done with the the average world wide lifespan never being above 70. Look at what we have done with this. Compare us to animals and we've done unimaginable things. Simply fire was beyond the capabilities of all creatures besides humans. Now we're in outer space. Landing on the effing moon, soon mars. A cell phone... everything we have created that before even we would not have even thought of. The average lifespan of humans never passed 70... what if all of a sudden that changed to 100? More time to learn... more time a person's experience can be put to use to accomplish things. 30 extra years is an increase of 42%

How about 200? 300?

What could we as humans accomplish with an average lifespan of 300 years? I believe world peace would be a simple task.

Now... this is a stretch and entirely based off of if there is a lifespan to the brain, and assuming we can preserve it and or improve it. To be honest I'm doubtful...

...But what about... lets say... 10,000 years?

:)

I'm not sure why I'm so worried... it'll probably be the greatest responsibility any man has ever bared but still, I'll have time.

Why do idiots always blame pot and booze for posting stupid shit? I've posted whilst high before now and whilst it affected my grammatical ability, it didn't my point.
