The Perfect World

Wednesday wrapped her arm around Gem as he clung to her and the tranquilizer took over him she quickly say down and waited for them to hit her with it, at least she wouldn't fall like she'd seen various other people do. And sure enough it soon hit her and she lay her head atop of Gems and welcomed the sleep.

As consciousness returned, Gem felt as though he was floating on a cloud, and a soft, golden light filled his eyes. He sat up slowly, still aching from the tranquillizer, and realized he was in a large, four poster bed in the biggest room he had ever been in, wearing pyjamas of pure silk. Even in their mansion of a house, he had never seen anything like this before. The walls were panelled with a golden, shimmering wood, and the single window took up most of the wall to the left of him. In the middle of the room, the floor was lowered, and steps in a pentagon shape led down to it; a jacuzzi with steaming water sat in the very centre.
As Gem stared at the amazing sight, the scent of wild berries filled his nose, emitting from a small wooden table several feet away from the bed, which was raised on a wooden platform, and opposite the small table was a small, cozy corner comprised of three soft looking chairs, a book case bursting with books, and puzzles, and another small table on which stood a tea pot, cups, cutlery, hot chocolate mix, and a jug of milk. A door to the right stood closed, probably leading to the bathroom, another, sturdier looking door ahead appeared to lead out...wherever that was, and overhead, an elegant chandelier hung, sparkling indifferently back at his confusion.
Gem moved to the end of the bed, and saw a pair of crutches waiting on top of a wooden box. He quickly grabbed them and climbed out of bed, not in the least surprised to see that everything from floor to ceiling had been polished to a reflective gleam, with no cracks, marks or stains to be seen. It was perfect. It was as though the room was trying to express the standards that the government wanted to set for its citizens.
Gem hurried over to the heavy looking door and tried to push it. But it was locked. And as he had expected, the other led to a circular bathroom fit for a mermaid.
He didn't know how he was supposed to feel. On one hand, this was like a dream, and for a moment he wondered whether the tranquillizer had killed him, but on the other, he knew he was trapped in some kind of cruel joke. Outside that door was certain death.
Aries woke up in a room almost identical to Gem's, except in the small, cozy corner, waiting for him was a mountain of sweets, a small, neat pile of comics and magazines, and the ingredients to make coffee, instead of hot chocolate.
He climbed out of bed, and walked over to the window. Below, he could see the stadium, and directly across, he could see other windows resembling his.
"I might get caught every year," he commented, crossing the room again to examine the box at the end of his bed. Inside were spare pyjamas like the ones he had been changed into, swim suits for the jacuzzi, and clothes for the tournament.
Jack's cozy corner didn't contain anything with which to make a hot drink. It was loaded with alcohol, cigarettes, canvases and paintbrushes.
Just like last time. They did their research alright, the last time he was here he didn't even smoke. He decided against getting worked up about the tournament, changed into a swim suit, grabbed a couple of bottles and headed to the jacuzzi.
As he attempted to relax, he glanced around the ceiling carefully. The rooms were packed with tiny cameras, observing their every movement. He doubted whether anyone who had never been here before would think to suspect they were being spied on.
Waiting for Tim, of course, was a small garden to tend to, complete with watering cans, plant food, and garden scissors. He became lost in them instantly, ignoring everything else. It was clear what had happened, in his mind. He had somehow died, and this was heaven.
"But the temperature in this room is all wrong for these plants!" he muttered, shaking his head as he cared for them as best he could. "This one's leaves have already gone dry...Don't worry little guy, I can fix you up. You're just a little thirsty, aren't you? Here you go."

Harkot heard someone walking around the room and smiled as he stretched. "Nice isn't it?.." He asked sitting up slowly and looking over at Aries. He remembered the first time he had woken up I. One of these rooms he had thought he was in heaven, it turned out to be his own personal hell.
Jess was still weaving in and out of consciousness, as she slept the sweet sent of flowers filled her and she was back in ther garden. She smiled and rolled over onto her side the blankets that covere her falling to the floor and her tattoos became visible.

Jack looked up when he heard something stirring from the bed. He smiled grimly when he realized it was Katana. "S'up," he said indifferently, lifting the bottle of beer he was holding.
He had almost forgotten this part. The beds were so big that it was easy to miss the other person sleeping there. Last time, he had been scared half to death by the sight of a woman rising from a bed he had assumed was empty.
"Oh, so that's how it is," he added bitterly, seeing the expression on Katana's face. "I get hauled up on stage because of your brainless sister, and you sit there glaring like you don't owe me one. You know, we'll probably be dead within the week, you could at least try not to ruin my good time."
Aries whirled around in shock, but smiled when he saw Harkot. "Where were you hiding?" he asked, raising an eyebrow at him.
He turned back to the window, looking almost serious for a moment. "I think I might be able to get used to it," he replied with a shrug. "This is the nicest place I've ever seen...The whole fighting to the death thing puts a bit of a downer on it, but other than that, it's brilliant. And look! They even put out my favourite sweets and comics!"
"Ghost!" Tim yelped, when the covers on the bed suddenly fluttered to the floor. He turned to face the bed, holding the gardening scissors defensively. But when he saw Jess, he blinked. How did she get there? He had been so certain he was alone. Not that he was complaining. Those tattoos were so beautiful.
He approached her silently, staring at the tattoos in awe, and trying to identify every single flower. By the time he was done, he was standing over her, pleased with himself for getting them all.
"I should let her sleep," he whispered, kneeling down to pick up the covers from the floor again.

As much as he hated it, Jack was right. "Can I ask... Why are you ALWAYS such an ass to me?" He took a long drag and leaned back on one hand.
Harkot shook his head and sighed, "It's all just a cruel trick.... Sure it's nice at first but after a while.... Well let's just say it's not all it's cracked up to be..." He looked out the window and smiled a little.
Jess heard a voice in her sleep and knew exactly who is was. "T-Tim?..." Jess Asked softly in her sleep, her eyes fluttered open a little and she saw him. "Hello..." She said her eyes heavy as she picked up her head a little.

Jack put down the bottle on the side of the jacuzzi, and slid deeper into it, until his chin was almost in the water. "Maybe..." he said hesitantly. "Maybe I admired you at the orphanage, because you were always so confident, and loved by everyone. It made me sick, but maybe I respected you for it. Maybe that never went away. Maybe I was always wishing you'd use some of that strange power of yours to give my life a shred of meaning. Maybe it's because I always knew I'd wind up in this tournament, because look at me...And look at you. There are people who would actually give a damn if you don't make it. I could die right here and now, and the only distress it would cause would be the official's having to find another unfortunate bastard to make the numbers even..."
He trailed off, and sat up again, before smirking. "Or," he said slyly. "Maybe it's just because you're a pretentious idiot who deserves every word of it because you're so annoying." He gestured lazily for Katana to come closer. "Or, maybe I'm just drunk and bored and need someone to torment. Are you going to get in here or not? It's what it's here for. Goddamnit you're such a...I don't even know. Look! You made me lose my train of thought I don't even know what we were talking about."
He gave Katana a disapproving look. "Get in here," he repeated firmly. "You won't get another chance, and if you do it will mean you've been chosen again."
"I'd guessed," Aries replied with a sigh. "But we might as well enjoy it while it lasts. I mean, imagine if we survive? We'll forever be wishing we had a place this nice permanently."
He picked up a bag of sweets and threw them over to Harkot. "Here, try these."
Tim almost dropped the blanket again when Jess woke up. "Hello," he said cheerfully, throwing it over her again. "And welcome to heaven. I'm now one hundred percent sure that's where I am...It has a garden, and so many plants, and an angel."
Jess's appearance had made him even more certain he was dead, and had travelled to heaven in his sleep. It really was the only explanation.

Jess sat up and looked around the room smiling at the small garden and then in the other corner of the room she saw something for her. It was a small dest with wires and flower clippings and a nice sharp quill.
She smiled and stood, quickly making her way over to the table she ran her fingers over everything then turned to Tim and gave him a big smile.
"Want one?..." She asked as she held her arm up so he could see one of the beautiful orchid tattoos.

Kyle woke up with a sore head, rubbing his head furiously to get the pain to ease. When he realised there was a guy in his bed he jumped out of the bed with fright. "Who are you?" He asked not recognizing him from the parade.
Posted 14 December 2014 - 04:49 PM
"What did you call me?" Jack slurred. He squinted at Katana's hand before taking it. "I'm going to stay right here until I forget about the tournament," he said firmly.
Then, without warning, he pulled on Katana's hand, causing him to topple into the jacuzzi.
Tim followed Jess over to the table, looking at the tattoo equipment warily. "Won't that hurt?" he asked. But then he remembered he was in heaven, and that in heaven, he probably couldn't feel pain.
"Ok," he said, sitting down and holding out his arm. "But it has to be an orchid. Those really are my absolute favourites."
Gem jumped and whirled around, glaring over at Wednesday suspiciously. "When did you get in here?" he demanded. He made his way back over to the table and took the hot chocolate with a small murmur of thanks.
"It's Gem," he said shortly, taking a small sip. "Now you have to tell me yours."
Bruce's eyes fluttered open and he stared at Kyle, confusion etched onto every inch of his face. "The hell?" he grunted. "What are you doing in my bed?!"
He sat up quickly, ready to start yelling. But he paused to cough into his hand. "Get out," he sniffed, still oblivious to the room they were in.

Jess smiled and sat on her knees and held Tim's hand gently, "Yes it will hurt actually... But it won't last for long." She smiled and placed a hand on his arm then taking one of the wires and flowers, she quickly did something and the flower was gone, the wire was the same color as the orchid had been. Quickly she pierced his skin and pulled the wire out and then pierced the skin again. She did this over drawing and orchid on Tim's arm with the ink.

Kyle looked at the guy telling him to get out, like he wouldn't have done that already if he could. "We can't get out.... I guess this is like where they put you before you die" Kyle said with melancholy. Bruce looked funny there was something about him that seemed familiar in the most bizarre way.
