So this is kind of an embarassing confession but I've never really had a real girlfriend and I'm 20 now. I've had girls come up and ask for a picture (based off my looks) and even girls who just randomly come up and kiss me on the cheek.

I went through a long period of depression and social anxiety in my all-boys high school which I've only recently gotten over now, approaching my second year of uni (I took a year off right after high school during which I did nothing except stay home and shut myself in completely). My depression has recently been improving but I was just wondering if anyone else has similar issues with social anxiety/approaching girls.

I often go to uni with the explicit goal of asking a girl I find attractive out, but I always seem to overthink it and talk myself out of it. To be honest, I think I'm really just too proud and fragile to handle being rejected, and I really want to get over that.

Does anyone have any advice?

oh and if you're curious about what I look like, my instagram is @wubblebub.

Is this a genuine concern or is this a, somewhat appropriate I guess considering our location and context, a fish hook dangling out there looking for a compliment whilst you also display the bemused mixture of arrogance and insecurity?

Anyway. Cool if you're good looking, sadly unless you want a superficial relationship, looks don't equate relationship. They help, sure. I mean, attraction is probably one of the biggest driving forces on the planet. (I believe Satre one said that whatever he may do, become a famous philosopher etc, it was all ultimately to sleep with women.)

But yeah sorry, back on point. The assumption "I am good looking, ergo I should have a girlfriend" is false. You might be a complete dickhead and smell really bad (Have you checked that you don't smell really bad?) in which case that would probably explain it.  And yeah, fine, you're 20. You're no longer a teenager and therefore your life is now over, errrrr... yeah.. You're still young, chill out.

If you want to fix it? Be more confident, talk to people, make an effort and don't expect a girl to jump out of the river like a salmon into your big beary mouth.
