emo isn't an insult.
he said he knew when he was going to die,
was very emotional,
was gay,
was understood by few,
and always felt some kind of inner turmoil.

What the fuck? He was NOT the lead singer of Velvet Underground, he was their manager for one year. Also, emo wasn't even a subculture yet when he was alive, how could he be emo?

he in fact did sing for them. does the label emo have to be around for you to be emo?
and gay is associated with emo many times. i dont think it is, but i mean,
we have an entire gallery for guys kissing.

Homosexuality is a huge part of the emo subculture. Half the people on this board claim to be gay or bisexual.

The label emo isn't just a label. How could someone be part of a culture that doesn't exist? That'd be like calling a popular hippie a hipster because the styles are similar; makes no sense.

With your reasoning Freddy Mercury was also emo because he helped bring a band from nothing to everything, was gay, and like everyone else probably had inner turmoil and emotion.

thanks amnesiac.
but you can, because hippie is no longer a sub-culture. but can someone be a hippie?
yes. im simply saying, if the label/culture existed, he would've been a part of it.

but freddy never showed it like an emo does. he was also more outgoing. and because he was gay doesn't make him emo, it just fits the sterotype.

I think the reason for that is the fact the emo culture is one which doesn't care about norms and values of society. Therefore they have no problem posting stuff like being gay or bi.
Personally i am straight and i dont see that changing at all, but its more to do with the case that emos are less afraid of peoples opinion.

Secretly in other cultures there are probably just as many gay/bisexual people, they just hide it because they know the people they hang out with wouldnt approve

urm personaly i dont think he was. andy warhol did not have the hair or the clothes. i personaly dont think velvet underground was emo. and also if he was emo why did he use such overly bright colours? wouldnt he have mainly used black paint for his printing or something? (just a sugestion tongue.gif)

velvet wasn't emo. i just staed the fact because it showed he was into music, which is a large part of the emo culture.
he did have the hair. he balded at an early age, so he wore outrageous wigs with many colors and hair that stuck out.
he wore tight pants.
many emos love bright colors, because the world is dressed so drab. so emos wear bright color all the time.

God you are an idiot. Warhol by no means was emo. Do you know anything about him, did you just read a short clip and decided that you finally knew everything about him? Idiot.
