Kaya pulled away from Harkot, carefully and slowly putting a bit of space inbetween them, the look on her face confused and slightly fearful. The boy's words when he pulled her away rang through her mind. They made her realize she had no idea if Harkot said who he said he was and if he could be trusted. Being in the tree made it difficult for her, she obviously couldn't see if the drop to the ground was low enough to be safe. She thought quickly, going through the earlier events. She knew that Harkot had saved her from the exploding van and after that she had heard him doing a speech to everyone. She remembered that people had reacted to that, so she was sure she was still in the group by then. The more she thought about it, the more she was sure Harkot could be trusted. But how could she know the man in the tree with her was Harkot? As soon as that thought shot through her head she acted with instinct. Without thinking she moved back quickly and lost her balance. She felt herself falling, a little scream escaping her. Sooner than she expected, she hit the ground and all the air was sucked from her lungs. She gasped for air and she could feel her back hurt while she did that. She tried to move, but the pain surprised her and she half lost consciousness. She could hear someone moving and all she could do was lie there. She cursed herself for making herself even more helpless than she naturally already was.

The girl was lying flat on her back, unable to move, and the guy was standing over her.
"You're de-dispic-able!" He hissed at Harkot, attempting to use a word he had recently learned from an old book he had found. "You really are tricking her so you can eat her? I didn't know moles did that." He kneeled beside Kaya, putting one hand under her neck and trying to lift her head slightly. At least that wasn't broken. But the hunt was off now. It was never right to go for the injured. "I'm taking you to someone who knows how to fix people, " he said bluntly, now deciding to ignore Harkot.
Tim frowned at Jess, half ready to attack her again. "Don't do that!" he protested. "This blood is decoration you damn mole. And this isn't a deal. If you don't have at least ten of those people over there marching to my village in five minutes, I am going to kill you."
Rowan stopped and gave Kassija an apologetic look. "I didn't mean you were weak," he insisted. "I just mean...we're all in unfamiliar territory here. I don't want anyone to needlessly get hurt because they feel driven away from the group."

Jess just looked at the boy and then laughed and twisted the piece of glass further into his chest. "You think I'm afraid of death? Darling I've been dead since the day I was born." She smiled darkly and stepped forward her cheek brushing against his, with her lips inches from his ear she whispered, "Now, what else have you got for me?..." With that she pulled away and smiled and with her finger whipped a bit of blood from her cheek and as she turned to walk away licked it off.

Tatsuya had grown tired of watching and walked in the direction of the group "so does anyone know how we''re going to make shelter yet?" He asked

As soon as the air had come back to her lungs, she drew a few deep breaths and sat up, forcing herself not to wince at the pain. She realized the two boys with her must already think of her as weak and she didn't want to confirm that. She heard Harkot asking her if she was okay, and for some reason it made the anger flare in her. She continued to move upwards, pushing herself from the ground with her hands. "Yes I'm fine." she said angrily. "I don't need your help thank you very much." She turned away and started walking towards what she felt like was deeper into the woods, even though she wasn't exactly sure. Someone ran after her fast, not missing a step or tripping over anything. "Leave me alone, I don't need anyone's help!" she called over her shoulder, while trying not to walk straight into a tree. Two hands, much smaller than she had expected, grabbed onto her arm and stopped her.

Gem stumbled back, but managed to keep his balance. He glowered at Harkot, contemplating ways of killing him right there and then.
When Kaya recovered and began to run away, however, Gem's legs carried him after her before he could think why. He didn't want to eat her any more, and, seeing that she wasn't in urgent need of medical attention, he had no reason to take her back to the doctor. Yet he didn't want her to get lost in the forest.
Well, he thought. If one of these mole morons runs off too far, they'll give away our location to something much worse... Using this to justify his actions, he reached out and grabbed her arm.
"There's a tree right in front of you," he said monotonously. "You don't want to disturb the birds sleeping up there. If they peck your throat out you'll be no good for anything."
Tim stared after Jess in confusion. Part of him was furious that she wasn't an easy kill, and wanted to drive the knife into her back as she walked. But another part of him saw her becoming a brilliant ally. How would he get her?
He swallowed his pride and called after her. "Bring them anyway," he insisted. "You're stranded here, and you're going to either die or learn to eat human meat. For some reason that seems to always freak moles out, but you seem like you'd be able to adapt."
Rowan smiled and made his way back to the others with Kassija. "I'll take him back now, if you'd like," he said to Lola, holding out his hands for the baby.
Harley glanced up when Tatsuya spoke, and wordlessly loaded the scrap metal she had gathered into his arms. "I'm sure there's someone here with a basic understanding on how to build shelters," she replied with a shrug. "We just have to make sure everyone is given work that suits their skills. Don't worry."
Posted 14 December 2014 - 03:42 PM
"Alright, put your arms out straight!" She said harshly and strapped the baby to him tightly making sure it wouldn't fall off. She sighed and softly kissed the baby's head and smiled a little. "I'll see you later, Sorren..." She smiled as the baby shifted a little a getting comfy.
Harkot glared after Gem and quickly caught up with them. "I didn't see you in the vans... Your from up here aren't you?" He said to the boy standing behind him, keeping a close eyes on Kaya.
Jess stopped dead in her tracks and quickly spun around, in a flash of brown hair and pale white skin Jess had the boy pinned up on his toes against a tree. "What did you say to me? You filthy sun baked freak!" She held the piece of glass closer to the boys neck and whispered, "Now you listen closely, if you try to order me around again I can promise you I will shove my fist down your throat and rip your beating heart right out and make you watch while I eat it." She slowly lowered him and smiled. "Looks like I got your attention. I like you. I'm Jess. Who are you?" She still held her knife in a protective stance.
Posted 14 December 2014 - 06:49 PM
Rowan did as he was told, smiling as Lola carefully strapped the baby to him. "Nice name," he commented. "Hey, wait a minute!" He stopped her before she could turn away.
"How did I not notice you before? Hi, I'm Rowan." He held out his hand for her to shake.
"Run," Harley muttered quietly to Lola. "You have about five seconds before he starts trying to tell stupid jokes."
Gem glared at Harkot. "So what if I am?" he demanded. "You're the ones tres-...tress-pass...ing. Here, your kind are just food. Act like it." He rounded on him angrily. "If you don't understand the situation you're in, you're even stupider than you look." He withdrew a small knife from his belt, and pointed it at Harkot.
"And keep quiet here, mole," he warned. "There are things that could kill you faster than you can blink."
Tim attempted to go into defence, but it was too late. The girl already had him pinned. He stared at her in a mixture of anger and admiration.
"Your first kill was Jess?" he asked slowly. "Mine was Tim. A mole like you." He paused and considered her for a moment. "I like you," he decided. "You show no fear. Why won't you hunt with me? Does that food back there mean something to you?"
Posted 14 December 2014 - 07:13 PM
"Lola. Now listen good pretty boy! I'll be around to keep an eye on Sorren and if I see one bruise, bump, or scrape on his little body so help me god I will shove deer sh*t down your throat! Got it?" She nodded and smiled then walked away to continue collecting fabric.
Jess looked at Tim with big eyes and huffed, "my first kill was a self serving, ignorant little..." She stopped herself before she go to worked up and took a deep breath. As she stepped back she shook he read and whispered, "No I don't think I'll hunt with you, but if you promise to leave the people that I camp with a lone... Well I'll help you hunt another camp." She smile and glanced at the people who were still filing away from those who had chosen to fallow Harkot.
"Also! Tell your little twerp friend to leave the blind girl alone, ok? Her and that guy are part of my group. Something happens to them and you will be the one to pay for it!"
She dropped the piece of glass in his hand and then walked away.
As she walked into the clearing out I his sight she tore her shirt and wrapped it around her hand where the glass had been cutting her.

Rowan stared after Lola in slight admiration. "Harley, I've decided-" he started, but his sister cut him off.
"This is the fifth time this month," Harley pointed out. "There'll be someone else tomorrow. Why don't you just focus on keeping that baby out of the way. Go find someone who can feed him?"
"Can't you?" Rowan asked lazily.
Harley glowered at him. "You know I can't. And I'm busy. Go ask someone else."
Tim considered his options for a moment, then decided Jess's proposal might be beneficial to him. It would bring in more food, at least. And besides, the others would still be good for food at a later time.
He turned back into the trees in the direction of his companion.
"Dust biter?" Gem repeated, his eyes wide with bewilderment. What did that mean? Was it some kind of mole greeting. He hadn't come across it yet in any of his books.
He turned back to Kaya. "My first kill was Gem," he replied formally. "My mother. Who was yours?" Her second question was odd. He opened his mouth to explain that he had been here his entire life, but he was interrupted by a moron.
"Hunt's off," Tim grunted, ignoring the two moles. "We have more food coming. Let's go."
Posted 15 December 2014 - 01:19 PM
When they both disappeared into the forest he went over to Kaya and helped her out of the forest.
When they got to the clearing he saw another girl with half of her shirt ripped off and blood on her cheek and hand and quickly called her over. "Hey are you ok?" He asked concern filling his voice.
Jess smiled up at Harkot and nodded, "I'm fine just cut my hand on a bit of glass" Jess lied. She then turned and began gathering more things for weapons, all the while keeping an eye on everyone.
Lola stayed near by the siblings that had Sorren to make sure he was ok.
Katana saw Harkot coming out of the trees and shook his head, thinking the worst of his big brother but the thought was quickly dismissed from his mind. He looked over at Shou and smiled softly then realized he hadn't introduced himself he extended his hand to Shou and smiling said, "I'm Katana by the way."

Name: Johan (pronounced "Yo-han") Kohl
Appearance: He has blue eyes and blond hair. (The colour in the picture isn't the greatest, unfortunately)
Reason for banishment: Murdering a government official.
Other: He got caught on his own accord, as he wanted to go to the surface. Usually always has that small, understated smile on his face.
Name: Oliver, Tom, (Others?)
He is quite lean, though not the skin and bones type, he does indeed have a healthy amount of muscle and shouldn't be confused as weak.
Reason for banishment: Murder.
As the van of the newly banished crossed the threshold between the darkness of the underground to the brilliant new sight of the blazing sun, the passengers seemed to go into a hushed state, though either due to terror or awe one could not discern.
While the suspension of sound dragged on, it was suddenly broken by a seemingly distressed man.
Oliver pushed himself up against the bars to try and get a good look at the driver, all the while sputtering. "Please!! You can't do this to an innocent guy! Look at my eyes and tell me I murdered those people! Please! I must have been framed! You know how those government, rich types like sloughing off the blame to the lower-class!"
His desperate pleading was met with silence from the front and irritated jeers from his van mates.
Some such comments consisted of:
"Ya know thems robots, right?!"
"We're ALL innocent here, bud"
The robot remark slapped him hard with embarrassment, as yes, he could now see it. Idiot! Robots indeed. He had been wasting his energy on robots.
He opened his mouth to say something, but instead slumped back into his seat, trying to suppress the anxiety that threatened to boil over.
As the people in the van got riled up, Johan simply sat straight, head slightly turned to stare out the window.
So this is real light, nature in its finery. His eyes were alight, elegantly portraying the curiosity beneath them.
He kept his gaze fixed, watching the horizon, the rolling ground as they moved. As the van came to rest at its destination, the sight of disembodied, burnt limbs and a destroyed van did nothing to change his steady smile, though a reaction did come of others, especially Oliver.
Wide eyed, panic in his breath, Oliver found himself wanting all the more to return to his previously pathetic existence, as he had at least been living. But now? We're all going to die!
SNAP! Upon the doors coming to an unlocked state, the majority of the banished rushed in a frenzy to get out into the open air, though Oliver sat in place, his mind whirling. Maybe I'll be safe if I stay in here?? Yeah...yeah...I'll live in this van! His mind was not thinking logically, clearly.
Johan also had not rushed to escape the metal confinement, rather, he deliberately, gently, opened the door and made his exit. Briefly sparing a glance Oliver's way, he walked over to the wreckage of both van and human, lightly touching the body of the van. Still warm. Crouching down, he examined what appeared to have been a hand, touching it briefly. It appears all this was quite recent...
Wordlessly, he stood upright and watched as some of the others darted off into the forest, or went about establishing a group. It seemed many had differing opinions on the best way to survive. Who will prove wrong?
Oliver watched as the others took off. He looked around, as if looking for something. If I close the doors, I'll be safe for a little while longer...Who knows what those criminals will do? What if one comes back?!
He grabbed the door beside him and yanked it shut. He didn't take the time to see if it had locked again before reaching for the door opposite. As he was about to close it, a hand appeared, stopping it. He looked up, squinting against the sun, to see Johan standing there, an almost eerie smile on the blond man's face.
Surprise dissipating, anger and frustration rose to his face, "Hey you! Find your own place! Get lost!"
Johan opened the door fully, looking Oliver in the eye, "Did you ever stop to think that these doors may re-lock? How would you have survived then? In such a circumstance, you would probably claw your fingers raw trying to escape. No food, no water...You're body would begin to eat itself, but then you would die from dehydration before starvation could have a chance to ravish you."
Johan let go of the door and stepped back, Oliver glaring at him slightly.
Hand still clutching the handle of the ajar door, Oliver was about to close it.. But what if...?
He let go of the door handle and went to the already closed door, and tried opening it. When it didn't budge, his eyes grew wide with near terror. I almost....So close...to killing myself!

"I wasn't finished!" Gem protested angrily as he was dragged away from Harkot and Kaya. "That mole was just about to tell me what dust biter meant!"
"Don't fraternize with the food," Tim replied calmly. "I have a plan that will get us twice as many of them."
Gem rolled his eyes. "How, about you-" he started. But, as they approached the tree line, he saw something that made him scowl. "There's more of them?" he said, as more vans rolled out beside the others. "This doesn't usually happen. Why are there so many of them? Do you think they're trying to take our home? If many more of them come, we might not be able to fight them all off."
Shou stood from gathering firewood and smiled back at Katana. "Shou," he replied cheerfully. "It's nice up here, isn't it?"
Hearing the sound of more engines, he turned to see more vans appearing among the smouldering remains of the one that had blown up. "If they keep this up, half of our society will be up here within the week," he commented. "We could make our own little civilization...I've always wanted to be the knight of someone very important."
Jack was inspecting the hatch from which they had emerged, trying to find some way to open it from this side. It was pointless, of course; if it was possible, someone would have opened it by now, and underground would be overrun with whatever 'civilization' of humans inhabited the surface world.
Just as he was about to give it one more try, the hatch opened, and he jumped back in surprise. There was no way to get back inside. The vans that drove out in a neat line just fit through themselves, leaving no room for even a baby to sneak back inside. And it closed quickly once the last van was all the way out.
As the newcomers fled the vans, Jack hid behind rusty old remains. He wasn't exactly sure why, but he half wondered whether there would be rivalry between the two groups.
He climbed back out into the open, catching two of the newcomers out of the corner of his eye, still hanging around one of the vans. "I'd get out of there if I was you," he warned. "Some of the androids are faulty. It might blow up."

Tatsuya had been inspecting potential shelter building materials when he'd been disturbed by the new comers. They seemed harmless enough but he still kept an eye on them and went back to what he was doing. He made his way to where the powered down androids were in the none destroyed vans and wondered if they could rewire them as anamatronic guards.

Reason for banishment: officially because he is a second born son, but in reality he was a high end thief that stole from the officials.
Other: he has been on the surface for a while, but has been able to stay away from the cannibals.
Kaya let Harkot take her out of the woods, because she was smart enough to know she wouldn't last long without the group. She wasn't too happy about leaving Gem behind though, and she made sure Harkot knew that. "Come on now," she told him, with a scowl on her face. "He wasn't dangerous and you know it. I can't see and even I know he was young."
As soon as they got back to the edge of the trees, she stopped talking. She could hear the sound of engines cutting off. Was it? No it couldn't be new vans right? "Harkot? Did you hear that sound? It's not what I think it is right?"
The small framed boy had been hiding in a tree close to the arriving vans. He was certain nobody of the newcomers had noticed him yet. While observing all the people below, he wasn't sure if he should join one of the groups. And, if he were to join, who it was he should join. He had been surviving on his own, unlike the rest of the group he had arrived with, who had all been hunted down by the cannibals in the first week. He himself had run into a few cannibals himself, but he had always been able to get away with ease. Then again, there was safety in numbers and the newcomers might value him for his knowledge about surviving the surface. The boy decided he should stay in the tree until an opportunity presented itself.

Harkot looked back when Kaya spoke and then turned his head toward the vans that had just arrived. "Three more vans just pulled up..." He said his voice almost a whisper, it felt as though all the air had just been knocked out of his lounges, he was in shock. Why were they sending so many people up here.
Jess watched as the people filed out of the new vans a slight smile spreading across her face. Looks like her and Tim might actually have fun finding food after all. She scanned the crowd picking out the weakest looking ones and making mental notes on which way they were going.
Lola walked over to Rowan after finishing collecting cloth and crossing her arms she raised an eyebrow and said calmly, "He's hungry..." She nodded at the now crying Sorren.

Johan watched the fear escape from Oliver's eyes as the realization hit him. The fear. So beautiful.
Johan knew that if Oliver was locked inside that van, left to die, the fear that was festering would only grow stronger. His arm rose to clasp the frame of the door, gently caressing the slick metal. Just one simple flick of the wrist would do...
Oliver's expression shifted with Johan's smooth expression and actions, eyebrows creasing. He slowly began moving toward the open door.
Johan took a step forward, the door moving with his arm. The knowledge of greater fear that would present itself if he simply closed the door was very tempting, though...he could sense something in this seemingly pathetic man which interested him. A certain darkness lurking within. Perhaps he could be useful to a certain degree. Keeping his one hand on the door frame, he held out his other arm to reveal his outstretched palm to Oliver.
Oliver eyed the outstretched hand suspiciously. He was tempted to brush it aside and make his own way out, though this man was blocking his only exit...And he wasn't sure what kind of person he was, how he'd react to such an action. He took Johan's hand and allowed himself to be helped out of the van, a mumbled “Thanks”, escaping his lips.
Once out of the van, Oliver composed himself and seemingly brushed off the fear that had previously held him. “So, what are you out here for? Doesn't seem like you'd be the type, what with that rich looking get up of yours -”
Johan turned slightly, to see Jack approaching.
Oliver put up an eyebrow, “Hey? You listening? Hel-” His sentence was cutoff as Jack\s voice entered. Faulty robots? Is this guy being serious?
“Hey!” He called to Jack, walking over to him, “Is that what happened to them?” He pointed over to the grisly remains of the destroyed and charred van paired with body parts. Just looking at the scene made his stomach turn.
Johan took a step back from the exchange between the two, half listening as he began meticulously scanning the surrounding environment. If there was one other human around, it's quite possible he brought others.
His eyes stopped. Is that tree branch moving more so than the others? While it was windy, it did indeed seem that that particular branch was suspicious. He couldn't exactly see anyone, but he had the distinct feeling that they were being observed.
This is certainly becoming much more interesting.
